Since TV is going to be an even more vast wasteland than before. We have the opportunity to show the writers (and everyone else) exactly what they can do with their crap.
The writers want more money for what they do, the actors, producers... and everyone else in television is already getting paid. The sponsors are paying to get their messages out to the public...
So it seems everyone is getting paid for their time, except the viewers.
Let's quit giving them our time for free... If the writers can strike for more pay, we should strike against televion until they pay us for the time we spend on them!
STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE!
STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE!
STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE!

I am with the writers. Without them, there isn't any foundation for anything we see on t.v. and film.I am on the side of the writers that even create the stupid, romantic comedies that I hate, why? Because without writers , there would be worst things out.Every good t.v. show or movie that I have loved was well written by a writer. If the director can become rich bringing his/her vision of the written word to life. and the actor can become rich brining characters to life, Then why doesn't the writer, the key person to it all, get rich too?I don't think the viewer needs to get paid. The viewer has the power. If you Really don't like what is on, don't watch it.Get your friends and family to no watch the show too. Pretty soon it will disappear.

I have no problem with the writers wanting to get a piece of the DVD and web pies, you are right, everyone else seems to be getting something from it.
But how are the writers any more or less important to the entertainment process than the viewers? If we don't watch the sponsors don't pay and the networks don't buy the shows. Apparently they value their time a lot more than viewers value ours.
We are letting NBC sell our time to the sponsors, yet we get nothing. In fact, for cable we actually pay for the privilege of them selling our time.

That's exactly what I'm doing her. I cut the cable a couple of years ago. Now I'm pointing out reasons why others should too.

Well in February 2009, all channels will air digital pictures. that means if you don't have cable, you will have to hook up your analog t.v. to a device to see t.v. There are commericals running in my area telling the viewer to contact a web site to get a coupon. That they mention a coupon must mean you will have to pay for it. No more free t.v.What I like about cable is that I don't have to watch any t.v. shows that would need the writers. I mean I can see older movies, sports and all the self help, reality shows. In fact, the shows I like are not character driven. When I think about it, I watch more movies than the new t.v shows so I won't be affected. How strange. Back in the day, I had at least 7 t.v shows that I couldn't live without, but now.. there are maybe 2?

Nope, not mad at all. I'm just seeing this strike as an opportunity for people to dump the tv completely. The writers want to be paid for their time, but who pays us for the time we waste watching the fruit of their labors? No one. If their time is worth money to them, why isn't ours?

Look it seems to be the american way to want what someone else is getting. The writers get paid a wage and benefits. They have a job just like you and me. They just want more and more and more. Well let them pay a part of the actors and actresses pay and let the writers pay for the electricity and the heating. It is great to say we deserver more money but there is someone who is paying the bills and they should get a little more to take care of the building and salaries of these other people. The studios have over head the writers do not. I personally do not care if they win or loose.
I do not watch a lot of television. I watch movies and have bought most of the movies I like on dvd so that I do not have to watch television. I stopped watching a great deal of television when they started with the new shows in late August and had reruns playing in October. It is just easier on me to watch the television when I get a minute and watch dvds when I want to relax. No big deal to me to watch either.
