This may sound funny... anybody may think "do you have to post?" and perhaps some may answer " from the faucet, where else?":-) LOL Well just thought of sharing this because when we were kids, we used to lived in a "barrio" (Philippine setting for country side places) where there no water systems yet in local homes. And sources of water were about kilometers away from where we lived. The only ones available then were manual water pumps and perhaps rivers if there are any in a barrio. My brothers and I used to get water in this certain water pump (the nearest)driving our pedicab, the problem is that you have to pump it like about a hundred times before the water gets up and be able to fill a big gallon of drinking water.... and we have to fill like 4-5 gallons, 2-3 times a day:-) whew! Looking back, it was fun despite the hard old days.... we would play first and the loser gets pump out water for all the 4 gallons... sometimes we take turns while the other counts the number of pumps.. the closer you get to a hundred the surer you are to getting the water out of the pump.... there are times we lost count and we just simply sing the "tiresome" chore away.... If there wells then like the one in my pic.. life would have been a little easier....

I remember those times, I can still here our deep-well pump squeaking!LoL back then, technology cannot be seen that much. Television, ref, betamax player are the only technology and innovation we still enjoy back then. So does our water system, only a few enjoys the benefit of living in a place where there are water services and don't have to worry of fetching water because of these faucets. We only rely on deep-well pumps or on wells dug to fetch water at, some of them are far and others don't have reserves or are literally dry. I remember that I have to climb up and the down our stairs just to put water in our drums, to be used as either for dishwashing or drinking. It was tiring, but it did help me in becoming a strong man as I grew!LoL

Hi Bong! Wow, the water must have been way done there! We have had to haul water from a nearby river where i once lived and we have had to use a well and an outside pump! I have no regrets about it! Like you say, sometimes it was fun! In the winter it was a bit tougher because the pump would freeze and we had to pour boiling water on it to thaw and we also had to take turns chopping a hole in the ice to get water from the river, brrr, now i'm cold! lol! Take care Bong.

yup.. poverty and less technology then.... i remember fetching water after our afternoon class in a public school near our house, we would have to run home fast then go fetch water so that we won't be caught in a long line of pips also waiting to draw water from that same pump....that's life

Yup and when we moved to Cavite i felt relief. Because we have our own water system at home which there is no need for me to go and get water. Im stronger too now I build all the muscles from getting water 5kms away. LOL! Its a good exercise actually but its good Champ!

I can still remember when I was a kid and we always visit Sarangani Province and Dumanhug, Cebu. Those places have the same settings as you do. They use to fetch water from water pump and some are from the wells. Those wells and water pump are quite far so they still have to walk in order to get into the water pump and fetch. I was really amazed then when I saw it. It feels like it is pretty cool to have a walk a little bit every morning and fetch water from water pump and wells. Until now, they dos till fetch water from water pump and wells.

looking back at that... it was a cool experiences... with a sense of relief now that we have our own water system. But looking on another side, it's just quite disappointing that despite great great pork barrels or budget at the congress level, a lot of places in the provinces lacks this basic developments.... ?????? anyway, thanks for dropping by shakira

During my era when I was a kid, all I had to do to get water is from the tap or hose. But during my parents' era as kids, they got all the water they need from the river. Makes me appreciate life more and gotta be super grateful for all the technology and stuff! =P

We used to spend most of our summers in my mother's hometown, where our grandmother would tend us. In the old house we used to have that deep-well pump. :) There was a time when our lot's pump was not functioning and we were forced to go to the elementary school across us to fetch water. It was fun fetching water since we got to spend a lot of time outside. But since I grew up with 3 brothers, we all had equal turns in carrying buckets of water. :) Happy memories too. :)

isn't it nice to look back on those childhood days? i mean it you tend to realize that if not for those, you wouldn't have been prepared, tough enough for life's challenges :-)
