Normally, I look forward to Thanksgiving with my family, but my brothers aren't getting along with each other right now. So this Thanksgiving could be a rough one. One year, we canceled family dinner. So I went out in the woods and prayed a prayer of thanks for all I have. It was a beautiful 65 degree day with warm winds. But it's already cold this year. I was invited to a church pot luck in another town one year. I'll go if we don't cancel it, but if they get really awful, I'll be ready to leave and have other plans. Usually, every one gets along and puts aside differences. We have a nice day anyway, but this year, I've got a bad feeling about. Maybe they will just be socialable for Thanksgiving or maybe one won't come. One tends to not come if he's "under the weather." Don't get me wrong, we've had some wonderful Thanksgivings, but we've had some rough ones, too. The last ones have been nice. So maybe I'm worrying for nothing. Take care.

Definately looking forward to it. My son is a year old now, so we get to see how he likes the traditional Thanksgiving foods. A little sad that it will just be the 3 of us (all our family is out of state), but we'll surely make the best of it.

O-o-o-w, what fun! A one year old sampling real Thanksgiving food for the first time. Yes, I guess I should be happier that we are so lucky to all live close by. Take care and thank you for your response, I bet all three of you have a wonderful time. Take care

Usually I look forward to Thanksgiving because all of my family is together. This year we will be staying at home though because of the expense. We just returned from visiting my husband's family and we are going to my family for Christmas. We are military so we live far away from our families. Right now we have no plans for the day.

Thank God for the military and for their families. Glad you were able to see your family. The expense has gotten harder and harder. In some ways, I'm glad my family all lives close by so we don't have to make our choices based on distance. I'm glad you also usually look forward to Thanksgiving. I'm sure you'll have plans for the day, soon. Take care

We already had our Thanksgiving here in Canada. I do not know what we will do. We will probably watch the Parade or watch the Football games on Tv, maybe we will see a movie. My husband, the hockey fanatic, will probably watch a game. I have no idea what we will do, but I am sure, that there are some good movies on TCM. I guess that the regular shows will be canceled. Oh and I might take a walk. So it is up in the air. You are probably worrying about nothing.

Actually, my Mom and I discussed this just the other day. I told her that Hubby and I plan to just spend our holidays together. I don't need or want all the fighting that goes on when everyone gets together. I have one brother that can have a smart mouth and another that can cop an attitude so it isn't wise to put them together. A third brother will hide out in his room so he doesn't have to deal with it, add to that a g/f with wild mood swings and a drama queen niece and you have all the makings of a family get together nobody wants to deal with. So, I've opted to just spend it at home with Hubby and the cat. "COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS" **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Oh my goodness, I have three brother, a hubby and a cat, too. My Mother passed over, though. But otherwise, this really all sounds very familliar. Sounds like you found a way to have the peace within while counting your blessings and you will be standing strong by your beliefs for Thanksgiving. Take care. Hope you, your hubby, and your cat have a wonderful thanksgiving.

Actually, I am looking forward to Thanksgiving dinner this year and pretty much every year. Every other year, some of my husband's family from Massachusetts comes to our family cabin for 4 or 5 days. This is the year. The Friday after Thanksgiving, the "girls" go to the nearby WalMart to start Christmas shopping. It is never really that busy and we have a good time. We don't get to see these relatives very often, so it is nice to spend several days with them. On the opposite years, we spend Thanksgiving with my family that is close by. I love this time of year. I hope that everything works out for your family this year. What a great idea for you to go out on your own, though, and give thanks for all you have been blessed with.

All that sounds very, very nice. I think alternating between families is sweet, too. We go to one on Thanksgiving and the other one on the weekend afterward. So my family the actual day and his on the weekend. Yes, that year when it was canceled for my family, I think going in the woods and thanking was very special to me and I will always remember it. Very nice responce (envy you your cabin). I think I will reward it. Take care

How well I know these feelings! Over the past decade, we finally fragmented to being with just our immediate families. That saved a lot of tension, but we missed each other. But now, with our problem areas recognized, we'll be coming together more, if not for the holiday dinners themselves, then for parties. When Hun and I had been married about 10 years, I told him our family crest should include the words, 'There's Always One'... because thats usually what all our problems come down to: one screw that breaks when you're taking something apart, one window screen that tears when you're taking them down, one person who just can't get along. We use that phrase to lighten tense situations... it helps! I hope your Thanksgiving is much better than you expect!

I think Thanksgiving will be very nice with your 3 little angels. Part of me feels the way you do, but part of me has been through some really bad holidays many years ago. So I'm hoping that no one really wants to repeat the mistakes of the past and that the interveining (spelling?) years have taught everyone something, like how to get along during a holiday. Take care and have fun.
