It was the 70's when I had my last fondue. In the 90's when the home shopping network first came on the air I bought a fondue pot, never used it. It has long since been thrown out. The other day my hubby said he loves fondue we should by a fondue set. Does anyone still fondue and if so do you have an electric pot or with fuel and flame? What do you fondue and is it meat, cheese or chocolate. Tell me your fondue stories.

Oh we fondue all the time. My husband and I asked for one for a wedding gift and my brother got one for us. My best friend also got us a hot rock. We use both of them all the time. When we use both of them for the same meal, we put our meat on the hot rock and cheese in the fondue pot (it's the fuel kind). MMMMM now I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

We first discovered it at fondue restarant. They are really cool and the perfect match with your fondue set.

You know I am forever seeing these in flyers and wonder who has one of these. I have never owned one, ate from one, or anything. I wouldn't even know how to use it. I have thought of buying one but I worry that I could buy it and the kids hate fondues and I got this thing for nothing.

I know what you mean. It is amazing how many things I have bought and used once. If only I could have that money back...

Hubby is from Holland and he introduced me to fondue. We use hot oil in ours to cook a variety of meats. There are sauces to dip warm crusty bread in and to use on the cooked meats too. He is not one that favors melted cheese so we have not done a cheese fondue. Melted chocolate will be the next one to try.

oh man, i LOVE having a fondue. we have one at least once a month during the winter, stop for the hot months (i live in canada) and start up in september again! we use hot oil, cook pieces of pork and beef along with cheese (i cube the cheese, dip in egg, dip in bread crumbs and repeat) the cheese is all melty on the inside and crunchy on the outside.

I REALLY thought I wanted a chocolate fondue pot last year. So for Christmas my mother-in-law bought me one. I used it once and found it to be such a pain that I have not used it since. The chocolate was constantly clumping up, I was nervous about someone getting stuck in the cord and pulling the whole thing down on them, and I wasted WAY too much chocolate by overestimating what people would eat. It was a disaster!

That is what I fear. I would sink all this money into something and only use it once, it wouldn't be the first time.

I can't tell you how many times I have thought I wanted an appliance or a piece of clothing or something, only to get it and find out that I really didn't want/ need it as much as I had thought. I think it comes down to me being set in my ways and not liking change.

I have bought countless kitchen gadgets that I never used and they just took up cupboard space until I would get tired of it and chuck it out, it is so annoying.
