How Well Do You Get Along With Your Neighbors?

We have a pretty small desert community here and it seems we all got along pretty nice. Things are changing as more and more people are moving in. Houses are super, and I mean super, cheap here. At least for Southern California. The dynamics have changed and more ethnic groups are moving in. I don't mind, I apparently am one of those lol, but it seems neighbor after neighbor are beginning to have problems with one another. Sigh. My tires were slashed and my neighbor's house has chocolate pudding on the side windows and ketchup plastered over her front door. Okay, now that sounds kind of funny. Sheesh, I hope it wasn't my kids. Got to go!

My neighbors are my landlord and his wife, son and daughter-in-law. Ok first I should say I used to live in the house next door and I've know them all (except the in law) for about 10 years. When the in law moved in she never spoke a word to me and she's about the same age as me. So, we don't speak. The son is really nice though and with the exception of him being my landlord and them spending my rent money on whatever they feel like... I get along with them pretty well. Right now I'm have a parking issue though. Because I'm very compulsive about having to have a specific spot and the in law keeps taking my spot. So I just asked my landlord if we get fix that. The house next door is the house i lived in with my parents and the newest rentee's are old people who seem to refuse to want to acknowledge my existance. and whatever. I dont' care. they're dumb and old. on the other side of that house is my landlords parents and since I've known them since I was 16 also.. I like them pretty well. I would die if my tires were slashed. They cost $230 a tire!

You got to fight for that parking spot, my friend. But then again, if that's your toughest complaint life's not too bad, right? And yep, I know about the cost of tires. May it never happen to you.

Pshaw. Not all tires cost $230 a tire. My old cars had tires that cost $80. I can handle replacing slashed $80 tires, but I can't handle replacing $230 dollar tires. and hey if all 4 tires were $230 I'd be fine with that too. But no no. I've already HAD to replace one because of the stupid roads being all out of whack one of them had a bubble in it. So that's why I found out how much replacing just ONE tire cost. and I shopped around. Most places wanted to sell it to me for $260 - $300. And... the parking spot is the least of my problems. There are way more. But that's life. I don't need wishes against it or prayers or anything like that. I chose to live here.

I mainly get along ok with my neighbours, possibly because I don't see that much of them really lol! Although recently I've had a falling out with a few of them. An Eastern European family has moved into the flats (apartments) where I live and some of the neighbours obviously don't like it for some reason and have started a petition to complain about them. They're not happy with me because I refused to sign it. That's fine by me though, as I say I don't really see that much of them anyway.

Someone started a petition to evict them or just complain. Either way, that sounds like a serious problem. Yeah, I'm not too sure if I would sign something like that. Although, apartment living is different than life in a house. I guess you would bump into them sooner or later. Hope it all works out.

We live in a gated very rural remote community. We seldom see our neighbors and visa versa. But we do wave and occassionally say hello. Our nearest neighbor unasked kindly has plowed our driveway in winter. We have caught and returned their straying horses. If we need someone to keep a watch on one anothers homes while away we can count on that. We help one another but don't see each other all that much.

sadly life isnt like it used to be say 50 years ago when neighbours were almost part of your family. we live in a fairly large community and i have to admit that we barely know our neighbours, fortunately we havent had problems with them other than the odd loud weekend evening during the summer, but no complaints.

We live in apartments with like 32 apartments and to be honest...other than the manager I don't know any of them. I tend to keep to myself and mind my own business. "COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS" **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

They say it is not a place for a person like me. I guess I must be a terrible person, living here a year and getting along very nicely with my neighbours. LOL. Terrible person , I feel well at home here. LOL. Well take care, groetjes Margajoe.

I live out in the country so I don't have a lot of neighbors. The ones across the street from me are annoying in the summer time because they have a motorcycle that they like to rev up all the time, sometimes at 5:30 in the morning. But other than that, they seem to be nice people. I don't really talk much to them. The neighbor next to us is my boyfriends aunt. She gets on his nerves but she doesn't really bother me.

as times change so do the neighbor hoods . we get along fine with people straight across the street from us and to the south of us . We have no use for the ones north of Us I never talk to them at all. and I have good reasons for that. wow hope your kids didnt either and you probably will never know about the eegs and stuff but slashng tires that is way out of line and costly!

We live in a great neighbor hood. There is always some one to say hi to. When ever I leave my home there is kids ofr my children to play with. It is a small step from Leave it to Beaver. I am a stay at home mom and so are most of my neighbors. It is a great place. Sometimes it is a little to great. I am not a super social person and it gets overwhelming to talk to 5 people on the way to my mail box every day. I would not want chocolate pudding on my house but I know the whole neighboorhoods secrets and I am sure they know mine too. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.

That is not funny at all your tires being slashed. We get along with our neighbors as we don't speak to them other than to say hello. We have talked to them before about their pets running around lose. We had a boat and their cats always got in our expensive boat and would pee. My husband told them they needed to keep their pets up. Well they didn't so we set a trap caught them and took them to the humane society. I know this sounds mean, but when a cat pee's (sprays) your stuff you can't get that smell out. This had happened many times. They have never looked for their cat or asked us about it. But that is how we get along with our neighbors we really don't speak to them other than to say hello. We like it that way. We once talked to one of our neighbors and then they were always coming over to borrow stuff. It gets old.
