Recommendations for places to visit

November 9, 2007 8:53am CST
I visited South America last year, and am going back next month to do the northern part as well as Central America. But i was wondering if people had any suggestions/tips on where to go next. I've done alot of Europe and South America but do not know where net to go. I was thinking of south east asia, down to Australia and New Zealand, but i'd also like to travel through North Africa. North America interests me as well, but i feel it would be to culturally similar to England! Any suggestions?

Hello Pablofrase. I just got home last evening from a 2 week trip to Japan. We stayed in Tokyo and Kyoto. Kyoto is a fascinating city, rich with history, and steeped in ancient temples and shrines. It was an amazing place. Plus, the Japanese gardens were magnificent. If you are looking for exotic places and a culture full of people who are generous, kind, and patient, Japan is the place for you. Happy travels. Pearl Grace

I would recommend going to Thailand, I went over about 6 months ago for the fullmoon party and I had an excellent time, the staff at the place I stayed on Ko Phangan. Everything is extremely cheap in comparison to Australia and the I love the humid weather. The fullmoon party itself was awesome and you can check out the site with pictures here http://fullmoonparty-thailand.com/ There's also a heap of stuff to do on the mainland like hire a scooter (no license required), go on an elephant ride, visit temples, etc. If you ever decide to come down to South Australia (where I live) im always happy to show you around but its pretty boring in the city.

I'm not that familiar with England, so I'm not that sure how similar it is to North America. I do know that there is alot to appreciate in North America as well. I recently visited San Francisco. I enjoyed it just as much s my trips abroad. Puerto Rico and the Caribbean have a lot to offer culturally, historically, and leisure.

I would suggest you go to Costa Rica and Guatemala, in Central America. CR is interesting from the environmental point of view, while G is interesting because of its music, handicrafts and Indian population. I would also suggest going to the Caribbean itself, places like the Dominican Rep, Haiti and Puerto Rico and Cuba perhaps too. Another part that is very interesting is the Caribbean side of Colombia, particularly the city of Cartagena!

I really love to travel as well. I have been to Mexico, Belize and Guatemala. The Mayan ruins were fantastic to see and I saw much wildlife. So I think you will enjoy lovely Central America. I like South East Asia, having been to clean and orderly Singapore, Beautiful Malaysia and exciting Indonesia. I went caving there and went deep in the jungle to see wildlife. Wow! I have been to Australia and lived there for some time as I was a long time married to an Australian. I think Western Australia offers lovely scenery and is quite different. New Zealand I just loved with all the outdoor adventures. Oh the North Island looked fantastic and then I saw that South island was even more stunning. I have been to Tunisia quite exciting so I think Morocco or Egypt would be great counties to visit. I have been to the USA a few times and think New Zealand felt more like home, it is a similar size and it has weather not so different from the UK. I would love to go to Canada. Good luck deciding where to go.

I live in Canada.. ie north america. Quite frankly I find it boring here. Obviously lots of people visit here so it must be interesting. I just have no interest in north america though (other than mexico). It is probably culturally similar to England but not the same. If you want more of a cultural difference I would go to asia. I've only been to Japan for 2 weeks but I loved it. Everyone I've talked to loves Thailand and malasia. I'd like to go there too some day. Africa would also be a really great place to travel. You have to be careful and know what kind of conflicts are going on before you go. My friend went a few years ago and she loved it.
