My First Snowman

Some of you know that I just moved from Indo to Finland about 8 months ago. Today I made my first snowman. It wasn't really easy, though. I was sweating all over when I was done. My hubby helped me a bit. Rolling the little ball and turning it into a big ball was tough! Phew! But it was SO MUCH FUN!!!
I'm telling you that at first I thought that making a ROUND BIG snow ball was easy, but it wasn't true, either. It was shapeless, so I had to add more snow here and there to make my snowman look a bit more "roundish" he he he...
Then my mother-in-law lent me the winter cap and some wood to make the eyes, mouth, and the buttons he he he...Too bad we had no branches for the arms, but I thought we did just fine. What do you think of it?
To those who live in places where there is lots of snow in winter, how many times have you made a snowman? And how big have you made it? I'm planning on making another one, a bigger one, later on. It's just COOL to be doing some winter activities he he he...Next time I should remember to bring a spare T-shirt, though, 'coz my shirt was soaking wet with sweat by the time I was done. Plus I had to blow my nose every now and then while making the snowman as my nose got SO runny.
To those who've pics of their own snowman, you can share here, as well. I'd LOVE to see it. ;-D

Hi Ailema,
You are just adorable!!! The snowman looks great!! We dont have any snow here, and Im praying that we dont get any this winter, its a mess to try and get around it. I love how it looks, but I dont like dealing with it. Especially driving around in it.
I used to make them as a kid, we would also lie in the snow and move our arms up and down and our legs in and out to make snow angels. You should try this one too. It really does look like an angel in the snow when your finished.
Im sorry I dont have any pix of an snowmen that I have done. It is really fun, and Im sure you hubby enjoyed it too. Thanks for sharing!!

THX for your compliment. ;-D Glad you enjoyed the pic he he he...Yeah, driving in snow is VERY dangerous indeed. VERY slippery and you need proper tyres (read: EXPENSIVE ones HA HA).
Oh yeah, I haven't tried making a Snow Angel yet. If I'm going to do it, then I need a waterproof hat/cap he he he he...I'm planning to do it later on. We'll still get more snow, I'm sure, so I have PLENTY of time to do it. THX for reminding me HE HE HE HE HE...

Yes tires are very expensive! And plus, the people around where I live dont rally know how to drive anyway, or atleast they dont act like it. Always an accident in town. I dont drive around there unless I have too! hehe
Have fun making Snow Angels! Make as many as you can! lol

Ah, it's always a problem when there are so many reckless drivers out there. In Indo there are SO MANY reckless drivers PLUS daredevil jaywalkers or pedestrians. That was one reason I never learnt to drive in Indonesia. :-))) I know what you mean that you don't drive unless you have to he he he...
Well, I was thinking of making many snowmen/women/children instead of making lots of snow angel he he he he he...

As a child I made lots of them. It was fun. After we had kids, I helped them constantly make a snowman. We use to get alot of snow but with the global warming, the snow is not what it use to be. Those were the good, ole days!

Well, I haven't been in Finland during the "worst" weather, so I don't know how much snow we're gonna get, but I'm sure there's plenty still 'coz last March when I moved here, there was still plenty of snow everywhere. Plus the coldest temp. last February was -35.5'C so I guess we'll get more and more snow. It's only the beginning of November but there's plenty of snow already to make LOTSSSSS of snowmen if I want to he he he...

Hi nice snowman!!We make a snowman quite often in the winter and also a snowmommy and dog,hehe.Last year i made rudolph.I put sticks for his antlers and a red christmas tree bulb for his nose,haha.I always forget to take some stupid pictures after doing stuff like that and remember only after it has been broken apart and say "DANG!!".

I haven't made one in... man...can barely remember.
Its been too long. I was definitely a small kid the last time I made one.
Looks like you had some major fun in the snow Ailema. Maybe next time, try a snowfort if possible, or a snow bulwark I should say. Then have a nice snowfight! You don't have to, but it should be done at least once.

Your idea sounds SO MUCH fun, but there isn't anybody else to play with except my hubby. It'd be more fun if there are at least 4 people, so we can team up...mmmmm...THX for the idea, though. Maybe one day I can do it he he he he...

Hehe cool ailema. I would like to share with you my pciture too, but I don't have any. we used to make it every winter, when I was a kid and not only one we made few of them. It is so sweet you make them with your hubby. I am sure you two had a great time. yeah it is not easy to make a snow man and youw will got really sweat. Also I have one tip for you, we are using a carrot like a nose,you can try it next time.

wowwwwwww its very nice ailem i dont experience to see and feel the snow yet in my entire life:-( we have also a winter here in riyadh up to -4deg but no ice only cold weather i hope someday i can do that also i want to feel the snow falling down to my face and play with it ok why dont you send me one of those snowman hehe joke:-)

its great job, well for the begining it will be like that so its okey, hope than i can build also my own snowman, winter in kuwait is just cold no snow at all. i wish im there with you to build a snowman & touch the snow, i love to be a snowman girl too.

Hello again,
Finally had a moment to drop by and see your great accomplishment! You did a good job and he is quite charming...even without arms! (laugh). Sorry I do not have any photos of snowmen I have made in the past. I have some in an album before we started using a digital camera. Perhaps David could scan it...or I will make sure to send you a photo of my first snowman when I make it this year.
Fortunately we haven't had any snow yet...and we are not complaining. We will be getting it...and have it until the end or March at least...so we don't want to rush things!
Anyway fun post...great picture...big plus on both!
Hugs to you and your snowman...has he melted yet! That is the sad part...eventually they melt away and then you have to start over...but it is only work if you don't like it and it sounds like you had a blast and will again.

Actually we made it in my in-laws' yard. They live about 25 minutes away by car from here so I don't know if it's still there or not. This week we're not going there as hubby has a small office party in Rovaniemi, so we'll only go back there in 2 weeks' time. Then I plan to make a bigger (rounder) snowman ha ha ha ha ha...
I'll be patiently waiting for your snowman pic this year. Yeah, over here the snow lasts till March, as well he he he he...glad you enjoyed my snowman thou he's armless hi hi hi hi...;-D

so i live in the north of italy and in winter time there is also much snow here!!my first snowman i think i did when i was a child very little...this year i didn't do my snowman yet because here snow didn't come as well..i think probably in december where snow usually comes..i'll do it..as you in this days!!having fun!!

Hi,there!It seems you've got really heavy snow there.It looks nice! Well,I made snowman when I was very young and I also fought against my friends with the snowballs. But as I'm growing up,I seldom make snowman. I remember when I was freshman I did it with my roomates that winter.That was so interesting and we all played very happily.It was somehow unforgettable.I would really like to do that again but in my city,we don't have much snow in winter and sometimes there's no snow.Hopefully I can experience that again this year or next year:)

hehe,What a beautiful snowman!it reminds me of my childhood .As i was small,i usually made snowman in winter.with the help of my brother i usually made two,a girl and a boy!We used red carrots to make the nose for them.Oh,ha ha ,i don't feget to make a hat with colour papers for each of them every time,because i thought wearing a hat is very beautiful . But i have no pics of them.What a pity!
