I read with some interest on the building of a totally self sufficient building that is able to generate its own electrical needs. The budget is $10 million. I wonder if it is going to be really that cost effective in terms of usage. With the advancement in technology, I am sure the cost of using green energy will be lowered in time to come. I sure am looking forward to see how this building will fare once it is built. You can read more about it here -- http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/310174/1/.html

Hmm... kinda missed this announcement when it came out. i guess i'm sceptical. i usually am about all these wonderful inventions and green stuff. i guess 10 million sounds like too much to me. and all this mumbo jumbo greenie stuff... anyway if it works good cos fuel and electricity prices are hitting the roof!

I too am skeptical about the development of this self sufficient building. If this building is really able to do so, do you think that the same technology can be implemented on all the existing HDB structures? As in, we get upgrading on all our blocks such that we can enjoy this green energy as well? heh heh heh... guess we will only know a few years down the road after the building is completed.
