Or do you live in a 'lived in' home?? I have a lived in home. Its always clean but with four young kids its hard to keep it tidy all the time. How about you? :-)

I live in a "lived in home" with my two granddaughters. I clean but they leave their stuff all over the house. I fuss but it does no good. I give them chores to do to contain their mess, they do the chores and the messes ease out of their bedroom into the rest of the house anyway! It's okay, our home is lived in and comfy!

thanks for the comment elemental69. Yes, girls are definitely worse than boys in my opinion. I make them clean their mess but they still make them! Go figure! I just hope they have little girls just like themselves when they get married and start having my great grandchildren! LOL!!!

I think girls are more untidy than boys. And the older they get the worse they get!!! Are they giving you the hint that it would be quicker and easier to clean up for them hehehehe!! I dont think kids would make such a mess when they know that they have to clean up after themselves. And I think they dont actually realise that untill they get older.... Lived in and comfy are a great combination. :-)

Hi elemental! I am a tidy person but not too obsessively neat. haha.. I like to see our home clean and tidy all the time but that is impossible to do because my husband is an artist and when he works, OMG, everything is in shambles. Just can't really describe in full details. haha.. Take care and have a nice day!

Oh that sounds so familiar!!! My husband is a cabinet maker, and when he is even doing only a small job in the house he takes over the room with timber and saw!!!! Then everything has to be washed down all over again!!!! :-)

I do consider myself "tidy" .. I am not as "scrupulous" though..Use to be no one could drop any scrap without me getting too excited..I have mellowed out and allow my dishes to sit till evening..Washing them once a day ..whereas I use to wash them after every meal..

I used to be so bad that I would get up during the night to do a chore if I forgot to do it during the day. Everything had to be in its place and I would go around and redo stuff that I had already done, and if it wasnt done properly I would do it 2 or 3 times. I had to have towels in proper piles and colour co-ordinated and folded in a certain way. But I am not as bad as I used to be. I think the older I get the more relaxed I am about it. Thanks for your response. :-)

My home has always looked lived-in. We had 3 boys and we both worked. There was no way it was gonna be spotless. I didn't want my family feeling like they had to be careful about sitting on the couch or walking around. As long as the place was picked up, dishes and trash were taken care of and the floors weren't sticky and pulled our socks off, I figured we were good.

That is why I want a lived in looking house too! I remember when I was a kid my mom had it so clean that a friend came over, and actually asked if it was okay if she sat on the couch! She said our house was scaringly clean lol. I agree though, as long as the dishes are done, the place gets picked up, the trash is taken care of, and my favourite the floors aren't sticky enough to pull our socks off it's fine! Good one!

Yes but there is a big difference between clean and lived in. My brothers house is unnaturally tidy. Not a thing out of place, everything perfect. The kids are not allowed to have toys in the house, and are not allowed to have friends in either. Its more like a show house than a home. :-)

My hubby and I use to clean this house all the time we have to make sure this house is clean, and the good part of it is we clean together as a team. Kids around hard to tidy up the thing but what to do kids mess up and play..HArd to follow their mess all the time.

That is so great. My hubby does give me a good hand around the house since he is out of work. I think we have got into a habit now of him doing certain jobs around the place and we get it done quicker and then I have more time to do extra jobs each day like cleaning out wardrobes and cupboards and such. And as far as making sure the house is spotless, we have to too. Our youngest is a little divil, everything he picks up has to go to his mouth!! We have already caught him eating coal, a small piece of styrofoam packing that I missed on the floor, and a sweet wrapper that one of the other kids left around!!!

I think I'm a tidy person. ^__^;; I don't like seeing trash lying everywhere in my room. and I am an organized person too. I usually put everything back in place after using them so when I use it again, I know where to get it. ^__^ this is the reason why I get so pissed at my nephew and nieces because they always trash the house and it would take an adult order before they pump their azzes up and clean their mess. before they used to take my things too without my permission and never return it properly and when I get home, I usually roar with anger. ^__^;; but they have learned their lesson and never go through my stuffs again. the only problem is their lack of initiative to clean their mess. they weren't taught by their mother to be responsible.

Yes I am a very tidy person. I see to it that my home is clean and my family is comfortable with our house. I wake up very early in the morning just to check if everything is ok with my house. Just before my daughter wakes up, I am already through with the house hold chores. I really love being in a tidy home.

My place is way too small for me. I have a rommate, but it is like 10 0r 11 people live here because I have outgrown this place. I have an office in my bedrrom, so there is not much room for anything else. Under normal circumstances, I would not want to live in a museum. A little lived in would be fine.

I think places have to have that lived in look. I know of a person who had an extra bathroom built out behind the house so that her husband and kids wouldnt dirty the main bathroom in the house just in case visitors called. I think that when my house is clean (which is a never ending job) I think that it allowed to be a little untidy. Just when it comes to the kids toys, which are picked up about a hundred times a day!!

You can be the biggest neat freak on the planet, but your house will always look lived in once you have had a child(ren). Kids are messy that's just the way it is lol. PurpleTeddyBear.

It is very important to keep our home clean. Bust as you told it is very hard to keep it clean due to children. yes I agree. But we should make it easy by training to our kids. they should train to participate to clean their home well. appriciate them if they cooperate. punish them if they do not help you to keep your home clean. I have two children. one is boy and second is school going girl. Both of them help me to keep my home clean.

Our house is and always has been 'lived in'! We had our three kids, then two grandkids... I have no idea how we all fit in here! I now have a sewing room, a craft room, and a papercraft/computer room. Since I'm busy in one or the other all during the day, I don't always have a chance to clean up. But our family and friends like it here... this is where most of the parties happen! People don't have to worry about messing anything up... I did it for them!LOL!

Well, since I have so many materials, it frequently means I don't have a clear spot to work... so it kinda creeps out here and there... and everywhere!LOL!

Absolutely not! lol. You should see our house. It isn't dirty per say, but full of mess. We are trying to get the funds to put all our stuff in storage containers. The worst is the loungeroom and toy room. Our 4 like throwing their toys around and I just don't have the time to pick them up. or the energy! lol. You could say our house looks like a war zone!
