What was the longest time you ever spent in the hospital? Did you get restless? My first hospital stay was in January of 2003. I was 33 years old. I had a Sub-Total Thyroidectomy. There was a tumor on my thyroid the size of an egg. Thank God, it was benign. I stayed four days. On the morning of the fourth day, I got the results and called my sister to come and get me immediately. I was so tired of them sticking me with needles and trying to get my blood. I called my sister and told her the jig was up and she came and got me right away. What is the longest time you have spent in the hospital?

I think it was 6 or days..4 or 5 in intensive care. I don't remember a lot. I did not feel good enough to be restless. I had a Micro-vascular decompression done. A doctor (neurosurgeon) got to tiptoe through my brains, wrap teflon around a nerve and but a sponge between an artery and a nerve. It was about a 100 mile drive home, but it felt like much more, I was in such pain. I still have not seen the incision

That sounds bone chilliing. I pray that whatever was wrong is alraight now. You drove 100 miles home with what I assume to be one heck of a headache. God was truly with you. God bless you.

My longest hospitail stay was from the end of Febuary 2002 untill March 16,2002. The month after I had gotten diagnosed with M.S. . I was on Copaxone. It works fine for some people with ms. It paralized me and I was on iv steriods for about 2 weeks and then that hospital was scared to let me go home in my condition. I needed a walker after that for about a year. I made myself use a cain. That was a scary time in my life that's for sure. I am glad that God was with me though through it all.

That sounds totally scary Rozie and sorry you had to go through that. The longest stay for me was about a week when I ruptured my archilles tendon and went in on a Wednesday, had my operation two days later, then stayed for another 3 days to recover and wait for the doctor orders to go home = i was homesick by then and missed my son :)

I can imagine you missing your baby. He was not able to come and visit you? That is a long time to be away from him. Hope all is fine with you now. That sounds like a very painful ordeal.

She is going to hospital at least once a year and I can tell you how depressed she is all the time, when she have to go there. She has a lot of problems , specialy with her legs, but also toher things and when she come to the hospital, she cannot eat, because everything sting for her, but she always would find some new friends.

I am so sorry to here this about your mother. I know what it is like to watch a mother suffer and be depressed a lot. My mother suffered a lot before dying of cancer when I was ten years old.She was in and out of the hospital constantly. The best thing that I can tell you is to pray and trust God for your mother's healing. God is able to do just that. God bless you.

In New Zealand they allow you to stay as long as you want after having a child. I was in the hospital foe two days before they induced me and I had baby the following morning. I stayed another night and then was transferred to our local hospital (closer to home) and was allowed to stay there for another 3-4 days. I could of gone home sooner but I wanted to take much needed rest before going home LOL

In the States, they don't let the mother stay that long any more. They get you out and home as soon as possible.

lol..that would be exactly 24 hours, when I gave birth to my son. I absolutely hate hospitals and the atmosphere so I was out of there as soon as they allowed! My son needed blood work exactly 24 hours after he was born so I had to stay till then. We were dressed and ready, he went down for his blood work...then we were on our way home :-) Keep in mind that I wouldnt have left if we both were not healthy but everything was great...so I was out of there!!!!

I know that's right. Being in the hospital can be can be depressing in and of itself. Not to mention if there is something seriously wrong. Glad you and your son are fine.

I spent four days in the hospital because I had a tooth that abscessed and the infection went into the soft tissue of my face. The whole side of my face was swollen and I looked horrible. My eye was swollen shut. Not even the nurses would look at me. My youngest daughter wouldn't talk to me, my middle child asked his dad if they had to take me home. The thing was once the infection left my mouth, I felt fine. I was bored and restless in the hospital. They kept me on an iv drip that didn't help. I saw four doctors. Three just said they didn't know what to do. One doctor finally gave me steriods and it went away.

My longest stay in the hospital is 1 week. At that time I had an operation to birth my baby. It is a nightmare and I don't want to experience the same.

Hi Rozie37! It was a long time ago and I remember that I was confined to the hospital for a week because of Typhoid Fever. I was 18 years old then and I drank water from a contaminated water reservoir in a rural area where we had camping. After a few days, I was nauseous and having loose bowel movement continuously and was dehydrated. It was a good thing that I was rushed to the hospital because the doctor said that another day of dehydration and the bacteria inside me, they might not be able to save me. It is the only and last time I went to the hospital and I hope I wouldn't be going back there anymore. Take care and have a nice day.

That sounds awful. I am so glad that you survived that. I had those same symptoms once. It was from the stomach flu. I had to go to the hospital, but I stayed only two hours to be rehydrated.

My longest was 18 days... I had my leg cut off by a forklift and they did several surgeries. When my mood got really ugly, they let me go home, but I had to go back 3 times for more surgery. The next longest was 5 days with pneumonia, and the next was 4 days with an intestinal obstruction. I don't plan on ever going back... I've had enough!LOL!

My longest stay in hospital was when I was pregnant with my oldest child. I had terrible morning sickness and couldn't even get out of bed. I was in for 6 nights. Wasn't my only stay either, I had to go back 2 more times, but only a couple of nights for these. I've never had a real medical problem (like being pregnant isn't enough!)and never want to have to stay in hospital again. Even with 2 of my babies, I was home the same day they were born. The other 2, it was too late in the night for the doctor to release me.

My longest hospital stay was about a month and a half when I was two years old. When I was two, I had my arm and leg run over by a tractor lawn mower. Needless to say, it had left my arm with severe nerve and muscle damage.. not to mention many cut pieces of bone. my leg luckily only had damaged nerve. They wanted to amputate but my father fought for them to try and do something. Luckily, one doctor said he'd try but there were no gurantees. Good thing he did because today I can do almost everything I would have been able to. I still don't have feeling in two of my fingers, but I can still write and play sports and anything else I want to with my arm. I think the scars make me unique.

I can imagine swollen hands would be quite uncomfortable. Our hands are one of the things that we tend to take for granted until something happens and then we take notice of how blessed we are, just to have full use of them.

I don't really mind needles. But I feel like this, if you don't get it right the first time, don't keep poking at me, let someone else try, LOL.

The longest I ever stayed in the hospital was for 7 days, a week. It was when they were trying to figure out what was wrong with me. My insurance had denied the request of my doctor to send me to the Mayo Clinic, so my doctor told me she was going to have her own clinic for me. I checked into the hospital, met with 6 specialists, had blood drawn three times a day, had a spinal tap, 2 MRIs, and 1 Cat Scan. You'd think 7 days would have been enough. But when they released me I felt like utter crap. A migraine from my spinal tap was still with me, so I was in my room 3 days after I was out of the hospital. That was about 4 years ago.

I've never had a long hospital stay, or an overnight stay for that matter. I've been very lucky. The only time I've had to have work at the hospital was when I had Bells Palsey. It was scary. My mom had a cyst a few years ago that she had to stay in the hospital for. I missed my mama because she was in there for a few days. Thankfully, it was benign too. My mom has thyroid problems and she has to have a lot of blood work done. Do you have thyroid problems or was it something that just came up?

I never really had a problem with it. My doctor found the tumor and I had it removed. Now, I am taking the HRT, but I don't know that anything is different with me.

When my 2nd daughter was born she had cancer but it wasn't diagnosed until she was 13 months old. We spent 54 days straight in the hospital and I stayed the entire time (partly because I was nursing and mainly because she was my daughter). Sadly she went on to heaven in her 22nd month of life but I cherish every moment that I had with her and wouldn't trade it for the world! Blessings
