Many people afraid of spiders. This is a phobia - a kind of groundless fear. In a place I live there are not dangerous and poisonous spiders, but many people afraid of small and harmless spiders. I've heard that killing spiders brings bad luck. Do you know any other beliefs connected with spiders?

I'm very afraid of spiders, small or big it doesn't matter... Fortunately in Italy there are only small ones and only in the country so, as I live in a city, I never have the opportunity "to meet" one! Also in Italy killing spiders is belived to bring bad luck but I think that I couldn't sleep if I knew there is one in my home...

I do have a great fear of spiders but I would not call it a groundless because I was biten by one that seemed harmless (not that I had a chance to see it, it was in my shirt when I put it on). I had to have many injections and still have the scar where it bit me. I was on my way to school whan that happened and I almost fainted 10 min later. Lucky we had doctors in the school. I do not care how much bad lack killing them will bring me I will kill any that come my way.
