I have watched the Minutemen Defense group off and on for awhile and even applauded what they were trying to do. I even started an old discussion telling about them and their goals. Their web site is full of news and asks for donations to help build a fence along our southern borders. http://www.minutemanborderfence.com/ Living in Texas, I'm a little closer than some to the southern border and the problems with illegal immigrants coming in. Now, it seems as if the fancy, hi-tech fence promised has not happened, and a barbed wire fence was put in along part of the Arizona/Mexico border. Has this all been a scam? I'm a little disappointed and will be watching to see. http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/11/07/border.fence/index.html

I too had heard the fence being erected by the Minutemen is a dissappointment. I heard it on an alternative shortwave radio show. A fellow who flies his private plane near the border to keep an eye on things had reported the fence did not look like much. I'm not sure if it was a scam from the start, but it does seem that anytime anything good gets started you have to watch out for scammers coming in to try to take it over. That might have happened here. I don't know.

I think the politicos finally realized that building a fence would be very expensive. (Not to say that Iraq isn't). We have lost control and who knows what will happen. We have politicians who want to appeal to the Hispanics so they dont want to make waves about things. There are not enough minutemen out there do do the job. Just like there are not enough border patrol or ICE or cops etc. Our country is going broke trying to please everybody and in the process no one is happy.
