Australia has unique animals. Kangaroos can hop along. Koalas like to sleep for most of the day in gum trees. Possums are friendly little furry animals. The birds vary from the white cockatoo, the gray and pink gallah to the rainbow lorikeet.
I saw an ecidna crossing the road, it is a spiky looking animal. I have never seen a platypus though. I have seen seals and fairy penguins.
Which is your favorite Australian animal and why?

Kangaroos are my absolute favorite animals. I've always loved them and I have several kangaroo stuffed animals. I always go to zoos that have kangaroos and I actually got to feed and pet a bunch of them at a zoo I went to a few years ago. I don't know what it is about them, but I just love them. They are adorable.

I have little knowledge about Australian native animals. By far I love kangaroos the most. Here in my place I do find kangaroos in the local zoo. I like watching the mother kangaroo carry her baby hopping along the path.
I am sorry I couldn’t have time to write more as I am going to a mountain resort in another state for vacation. I would spend about a week there. The taxi is waiting outside ... bye...

Have a wonderful week in the mountain resort. Thanks for replying even though you are in a rush. I have seen baby kangaroos ride in their mother's pouch. Oh, that looks adorable. I was surprised the first time I saw one jump back in. Wallabies are alos cute looking. Have you seen one of those?

I don't think i have ever thought about a favorite australian animal. Anyway, I like koalas and kangaroos, among many others. Due to Australia being an island, the isolation for centuries brought unique species, and nowadays we can all enjoy them, which is great :)

Kangaroos hop along and look very sweet indeed. Koalas look sweet siting up a gum tree happily munching away or sleeping. I think the kangaroo is my favorite. I have had some enjoyable times taking photos of them. One wild one hopped along so fast I had to be make it snappy. The ones in the national park were friendly and inquisitive.

I love the kangaroos too. I once had the chance to hug a kangaroo from the back. It felt really soft and cuddly but I could not hold that guy for a long time as he started to hop around after that but that was really fun.
I was actually afraid to approach it form the front after seeing some cartoons where a kangaroo can punch you in the face. Do they really do that?

It must have been an adorable experience to hug a kangaroo. Yes, they can sort of box with their powerful front paws. I had some kangaroos after my lunch! I love to watch the way they hop around. I adored going to Kangaroo Island in South Australia. The ones that live there in the Flinder's Chase National Park are friendly.

I have never been to Australia but i am surely fascinated at the kind of animals that are endemic to the continent... but i am mostly fascinated with the Koala bear... although it is not actually a bear but i think the word kinda became stuck to it... i think they are very cute and peaceful creatures... it is just to bad that their habitat is slowly dying out... i hope a lot is being done to save this unique creature...

Yes, the koala is a protected animal. I have lived in Australia and toured much of it. However I have only seen wild koalas once, that was on Magnetic Island. Sometimes bush fires break out and this damages the gum trees. Oh, I also hope much is being done to save this gorgeous creature. Australia has unique animals hey.

Well living in Australia myself, what can I say! Must admit I do like the Kangaroo but when it is hopping beside your car as you are driving along and you just hope it does not cross over in front of you can be a little bit scary. They are not too far away from us. You sometimes cannot see our backyard (and it is quite big) for the birds that try and feed off the land. The Galahs come in massive forms and have been known to watch and count them as they stand still long enough. But must say my favourite are the Fairy Penguins and if you visited Phillip Island that is a good place to see them.

Yes i agree that Australia being a large island and a continent by itself has really interesting animals!
my favourite is a platypus - I've seen them on tv, and also have 2 soft toy platypuses. I even love how their name sounds.
The kangaroos and koalas are the common symbols for Australia and feature in their sports teams as well. Lots of tourist products made with these animals. But i've heard that koalas smell really bad!!
There are also wombats! you forgot these very cute though rather pig like creatures.

Probably the platypus; I've photographed them in Tasmania and parts of New South Wales, but they are very difficult to capture with a camera; I'm rather fond of cassowaries, shinglebacks and blue tongues, too.
