Do you think it pays to buy a really big car with gas being so high?

I have lived kind of like a hermit all week and was surprised to see how much the gas prices have soared.
I wonder do you think it pays to buy big trucks, suvs' etc when prices are so high..
For $20 I got about 6 gallons of gas for my little mitsubishi and am sure it will get me through a week if I dont go to far.
Why would any one buy a large vehicle these days???

I have to drive a large vehicle. It is terrible what it costs. It takes over $100 to fill up my fullsize van. I have a son in a power wheelchair and it has a lift. It is uncalled for. I almost cannot afford to take him to his therapies and Dr. appointments each week. None of them are in the town I live in, as there is no one here that will see him. We have to drive 50 miles to go to therapy, and 120 to the Dr.. When is going to end? I would love to have a small car, but then what?

I understand.. People from my church also have a son in a wheel chair and they have a van. I don't know what kind of gas mileage they get either.
I think though there should be special prices for those with people on disablities..like a pump for those whose vehicle is use to transport a disabled person. what do you think?

I think the only reason that people buy big cars these days is because they have a big family which requires more space. I would certainly not buy a big car or truck now with gas prices the way there are currently. Even some of the smaller cars have room for families. Of course I bought my Honda Fit in June and am enjoying it very much and its gas efficiency.

I saw a picture of your Honda, ken, it's a beauty and I don't doubt that you get great gas mileage. You have to still be careful..with prices of gas climbing.
I know people who don't have big families who have big cars.
I know some men from my church ..the mission one in particular and they dont just have a pickup but they have these pickups that are like minautre semi trucks;)
