I want to travel and have the money to do it, but for some strange unknown reason, I cannot get a credit card. I have no debt, but no credit history, go figure. Anyway, I am under the impression that you need a credit card to book flights and things like that, is this true? If it is, that isnot very fair seeing as I have the money to travel, but no credit. I am trying to plan a trip for next summer and this may be a limit to me going. Insight anyone? Suggestions?

I think that it is quite unfair that that you are finding it so hard to get a credit card. Sometimes there is a problem like someone that lived in your home was in debt and then when they moved on they did not clear it. If I was in your position I would see if you can check your credit rating. You might be able to do this on the Internet I think. Alternatively I would choose to visit a bank and speak to person about getting a credit card. I know when I was a student at university all the banks were giving students credit cards and good bank deals like a small amount of
free money for joining.
I love to travel. I book flights with a debit card. I get money for day to day expenses in the local currencies and then use my debit card to get more money from a bank when I need it. To help you save money I would suggest staying in a cheap guest house. When I had very little money I got a cheap flight to Italy, then a bus to Croatia and then I camped in a tent.

You can probably go through travel agencies if you don't have a credit card, since you do need a credit card to book flights and some accommodations online. The limitation that this will have is that you will most likely have to pay extra for the travel agency's services, but then you said you do have the money to travel so I guess that wouldn't be a problem for you. The good thing about going through a travel agency is that they can recommend good places for you to go, and stuff for you to do while you're traveling. But if you have no credit card, you're going to have to bring a lot of cash when you travel.
