What do you know about getting publicity

for a non-profit fundraiser, that is?
How far in advance should you advertise? What is the most cost effective medium for advertising? [This is a very limited budget!]
Do on-line bulletin boards really bring in local folks?

If you can do it more than a month before the event, that would be well and good. Use of posters posted in strategic places would help. For radio and television, you can avail of public service announcements for this. Having flyers would help too but it is best to personally approach people who can really be of help to this. Make a list of possible sponsors and do not be shy to approach them for sponsorship.
