Ok my son has been on xanax for a few months now. He was on zoloft for a little bit then was taken off that and put on the xanax. Since all of this he has gained about forty pounds. He also is on dexadrine and depakote for his adhd and bipolar and epilepsy. He had never gained weight on those. I took him to the doc(a neuroligst which I have no faith in) and he told me that the depakote was what was making him gain the weight. I said i dont think so because he has been on it for yrs with no gain. Has any one ever gained weight like that being on the xanax i was just wondering.

I know others who were on this medicine that gained..The bad thing about these pills are they cause you to gain weight.

I used to be on Xanax - and did in fact stop it due to weight gain - I gained around 30 lbs and was like there's no way I am going to continue taking this junk!!!

I took xanax in my early 20's for 3 months for panic attacks but I did not gain any weight. Maybe his body reacts differently to it than I did.

I have been on Xanax-(Alprazolam) for well over a year now. I usually take it everyday, 2-3mgs. And i have never experienced any time of weight gain or loose. I guess it all depends on the person taking it.
