Next month me and my husband will celebrate our 5 year anniversary. Considering that we had our wedding in Europe and most people could not come we decided to have a party for our 5 year anniversiry. Now here is the problem. I dont know if we should write invitation or just call people on the phone. If I do any of that when do I do it? We are planing on having about 30 people and will have bbq and salads and lots of sweets and finger food and drinks and the whole deal (we are from the balkans so we eat like pigs and have huge menu). I dont care if people bring presents or not I just want to celebrate our love.

whats vegetables :))))) are you kiding me its all about the meat (not lamb) when it was my sons b'day it was just before easter so we had to do it 2 weeks later because of the fasting and a friend said have it then and have "posno" I said do you want me to be the joke of the whole Maco Comunity serving tofu. Anyway thats a great idea 20 days sounds ok but e-mail wont work as some dont have computers. If you cant come you can send some recepies eg for some really good creammy cake.

Well... you should not eat like pigs... or you might end up on my Christmas table as a leg of ham. Besides that... being overweight is very bad for your heart and your legs which have to carry the weight. December is a very bad month for parties... because everyone has Christmas parties. So if you want anyone to show up at your party... you better start sending those invitations out tomorrow... so that they have plenty of warning. Even then... some people will need to make a choice between your party and their Christmas party.

We are christian orthodox and we dont celebrate christmas on the 26 our christmas is on the 6 january so that is not a problem. plus the party is on the 9th or the 15th. I fell that if I send invite that will look formal.

Christmas parties are not on Christmas day... but on weekends preceeding Christmas... starting from the first of December. Those parties are usually for friends and work colleagues. Christmas parties have nothing to do with religion.

well good luck on not having problems :))) we all do and if someone sais they never have a problem they are not telling the truth. But with understanding, communication and respect we can do a lot in life.

Hi violeta-va.Congratulations!!I would tell them now over the phone because of not trusting the mail issues and being delivered on time or missplaced mail deliverys, plus it gives them time to not have anyother places to be at the time of your anniversary. Peanutjar:)

Early Happy Anniversary. I think that sounds like a nice idea. I would start sending invitations now. A few weeks notice at least is best for invitations to parties. I also think that sending out invitations is better than calling because they will have it to stick to their fridge to remind them about it. I would put on the invitation that presents are not expected as well. Don't forget to send me my invitation. I love BBQ!

thanks. Consider your self invited just send me your adress and you will get an invite. Anyone else wants one???? I am so worried to come across as "here I am making a party to get presents, or who does she think she is our presents are not good enough for her". I am not saying that I mind presents but I dont want it to be a priority and that is not the reason I am doing the party. Maybe I should write why we are doing the party (not having them for our wedding blah blah)???

Congratulations to a 5 year marriage! Sounds like its going to be a nice party. I think if you are just having about 30 people, it would sound more sincere to just call them up. Especially if they are couples, this only mean about 15 calls and slightly more.. But note that not everyone would be free on that particular day though. Well, at least you did try to invite them over.

The number of people is not a problem it makes no difference to me if I am preparing for 10 or 100, but its more of the case who I want there and have decided with my husband on those people.
