How does the flu shot make you feel?

I don't usually get the flu shot because I hear all these stories from people and it makes me scared to get it. Well, my mom got it two weeks ago and then she got the flu last week. She said it made her arm hurt really bad for some reason when they gave her that shot. They gave it to her in the very top of her arm and she thought they would give it to her in the fatty part of her upper arm. She was fine for a couple of days and then she started to get a runny nose, sore throat and she went to the doctor thinking she just had a sinus infection. Well, they said she had the flu but that they had caught it at the beginning and since she had the flu shot it would keep her from getting as sick as she would if she hadn't gotten the shot. They gave her tamiflu to take and everytime she takes it she throws up so she dreads each time she has to take it and she had to pay $100 to get the prescription. She feels better now though so I'm glad. But my question to everyone is, how does it make you feel when you get the shot or do you not get it? I'm kinda scared to get it.

Sorry to hear about that. I got my shot I think in Novemebr too. The arm was very painful the all through the next day. I also got it in the upper arm. I did fine after that though, and get it every year. My whole family does as well. The day after, I felt like I came down with a cold, but probably from that. It only lasted a day. Unfortuantely, like your mother, my father ended up getting the flue, and was down for 3 weeks! I will continue to get them thoughas I have a weak immune system.

I only got the flu shot years ago and I still managed to get the flu, not severe though. I am still contemplating on whether to get another one this year for me and my son and your discussion has just reminded me of it. I'll read what others have to say before we decide whether to get one or not. thanks for posting sweetgirl!

I had a flu shot so many times before and yes I had one in last month as well. Sometimes I had a sore throat, a symptoms were like having a slight cold but sometimes I didn't have any trouble whatsoever other than my arm was a bit in sore. Right now I am 7 months pregnant and I needed to have one so that it's better not to having a shot IF I get a flu and without having an antibody.
