Do you believe in "blind faith"?

I, personally, do not. I do believe in faith. I don't believe in god but I do have faith in a great many other things, including science and nature and my family. Blind faith, to me, is just ignorance. I have little respect for people that blindly follow anything, including religion. But, that is just my opinion. I just can't fathom believing and having faith in something without seriously sitting down and thinking about why you should have faith. To just blindly follow something baffles me and seems dangerous.

The Bible - A humorous atheist look at the bible ...
I'm very much like you in my beliefs ... or lack of, I suppose. And actually, it's funny how you should word it how you did, because I've used pretty much these exact lines before. An article I wrote for an atheist alliance was topped with a flashing banner I'd made, that said, "Have faith in yourself, your family, your friends. Believe in compassion, kindness and humanity. Run from religion." In general, I support individual beliefs ... until someone tries to use them to infringe on my rights. That's a different story altogether, lol. But I'm normally very tolerant of individual beliefs, and I encourage people to have faith ... but blind faith is ignorance defined. I can't even comprehend believing in something on blind faith alone. I believe in my family, I have faith in my friends, but I see evidence that leads me to believe they're both deserving of this belief and this faith. I believe the world is round, because science has proven it is. I have faith that I'm breathing in oxygen, because science has shown me it's true. I have faith that we're still evolving, because science has shown me evolution is fact. (Before anyone argues this, learn the difference between theory and 'scientific' theory, please) I can no sooner have blind faith in any God than a Christian can have blind faith that there's a purple elf sitting next to me. I could tell them there is one, I could describe him, I could write stories about him, and they'd probably all laugh at me. Yet somewhere along the line, someone told them there was a God, someone wrote stories about him, and that's their proof. P.S. Children aren't proof there's a God, children are proof that we're animals with a working reproductive system.

If you do not believe in God, then what do you have faith in? Everything here is temporary and imperfect. Only God is totally perfect and holy. Without the Lord, we have no hope. What a miserable life it would be without hope in the Lord! God bless.

But you are imperfect, just I am and everyone else. We cannot totally rely on ourselves or other people. Only God Himself is totally perfect and all-knowing. He knows our needs and He loves us and provides for us. You very well may be a good person, but at the same time, you are also a sinner and need forgiveness. We all do. We may be good people in human standards, but what about God's standards? We sin and that is something that we need to be cleansed from. Only Jesus Christ can do that. We can't. I pray you will come to know the Lord Jesus. God bless.

There is an after-life. We have souls that will live on forever either in Heaven or in hell. We are more than just flesh and bones. We are worth so much more than that! I'm sure your family loves you very much as you love them, but they can be taken away at any moment. God is always with us even until the end of time and after that. God has a plan for your life, but you have to be willing to seek it. I pray that you will! I love the pictures of your children! They are precious! God has blessed you so much! I pray that you will realize that His love for you is so great! God bless.

I'm assuming, Springlady, that you are just bored and have decided to take your boredom out on me. Whatever floats your boat. I doubt me explaining would make you understand since you are living in your own little Christian world. Again--just because you believe in god and heaven and the Bible does NOT mean it is the truth and everyone has to believe it. You are right--no one is perfect. I know I am not but I have no one to blame but myself and human nature. I don't need to ask forgiveness of anyone but the person I have hurt. I'm done discussing it with you because you are too narrow minded to see any other point of view and you are too afraid of upsetting your god and missing out in your supposed afterlife to explore any other beliefs. You are doomed to live in your tiny little world unaware of what is really out there in the world.
