Curious George recalled!!! - curious george

Collectible toys, music boxes, toy cars, sun glasses! The one that really gets me is one of my kids old favorites...Curious George plush dolls! All recalled because of lead paint and this is only a tiny part of the list. I seldom watch the news but tonight on my local WBZ News this is the first thing they talked about! They put a slide show on their web sit with all of the toys. I'm just happy my kids and grandkids are too old for these things but I worry about all the little kids in the world who's parents don't even pay attention to these things!! Can't anything be done about this? What are they doing to stop it does anyone have any idea? It's all very depressing to me!

That settles it, my kids are getting clothes for christmas! I'm trying really hard to keep up with all these recalls, but it seems like they just keep coming. Most of the stuff that they are recalling aren't things my kids wanted anyways. except for those aqua dots. my daughter had expressed interest in them, but I had decided not to buy them because she has so many other things like that. It is depressing that this is happening so much lately.

That's what I was thinking about my grandsons. Clothes only. But they thrive on toys so they did get some. But they are not made in China and aren't on the recall list. They are 5 and 8 so a lot of those recalled toys wouldn't be ones I'd get them either way. My wife and I almost got some of the dot toys a couple weeks ago. We decided to ask the daughter first. But before we did ask we heard the recall. Thank God. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I'm tempted to just get my 17 month old clothes as well. Anytime you think you might be safe you turn around and theirs a recall!

I think we're actually lucky that they make so many electronic things that even the younger kids love. There are so many learning and fun educational things on the shelves these days that it should be easy to get something they like. As always clothes are great too and the girls especially appreciate them.

Honestly after reading this discussion (which I do thank you for posting so please don't think I'm ungrateful) I am so tempted to just get my 178 month old clothes for Christmas, or books! Thank goodness she is still young enough that she won't remember the "Christmas with no toys in fear of recalls." My only hope is next year they get their butts in gear and get "good" toys that aren't going to be recalled later. It really scary what this world is coming to! PurpleTeddyBear.

It'sgetting to the point to where my grandosons will be getting only american made toys or clothes anymore. This is so frsutrating isn't it? Grrrr! I will check to see where the toys are made. Also I will make mental notes of what things have a recall on them for safety reasons anymore. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I missed this one! I'll have to look into it. You mentioned toy cars and we have tons of them of all different sorts. We've been lucky so far but I'm sure a recall will catch up to us eventually. There's just been to many lately to escape comletely. I think right now all parents can do is be really careful about what they buy. The big companies are more concerned aout their bottom line. Until that changes it's out of our hands.

I know what should be done about these imported toys that are so unsafe, ctry, but I don't really expect a lot to be done. There is too much money involved, and those in power choose profit over the well-being of our children and grandchildren. This is one of the issues that I really want to hear the candidates speak out about. So far, I have not heard much. I do have little great-grandkids who might be playing with these tainted toys and it worries me a lot. People need to wake up and realize that our government is not going to protect us from harm in many instances.

It's so sad that everything has to come down to money! Our government really does have to start thinking about it's people and not their pockets for a change...yeah, that will happen soon...lol...

Exactly! It all comes down to how much $$ goes into their pockets.

It really makes you scared to buy anything - toys at least. My son will be getting more clothes than toys this year. I only plan on getting a couple of larger items that at least he won't be able to put in his mouth. (he's almost 13mos.) Then it clothes, and probably his 1st teddy to sleep with.

Clothes is definitely the way to go for the little ones since their too young for electronics. That first teddy is a great idea too!

I know what you mean. Everytime my son says "mom can i get this for christmas etc" I'm constantly thinking are these toys lead free or safe to play with? who knows nowadays - i am a bit skeptical of what to buy this year other than clothing.

You know Ctry, all I can say is the US had better get back on track and straighten itself out already. There is way too much stuff happening here all in a short while....food recalls over and over again, pets dying, toys with lead in them?..what the heck is going on here?.....we are suppose to be a world power, one of the richest, and all we're doing is falling apart at the seams very fast. Yes, it is very depressing and scary to me also.
