How do you deal with a person whose emotions are constantly changing? It seems that just when you think you have them figured out..what upsets them: they change

I know a person like that. She used to be a very close friend and one of the reasons we are no longer so close is because of her moody nature. At times she would behave very warmly and sweetly but if she had a bad day or had problems with her spouse, she would take it out on me. She would either be rude or be ignorant of what i was saying. I tried to keep up with her, telling myself its ok, she 's unpredictable thats it, but after a while it got to me. From my experience i can say such people are also very dominating. They expect people close to them to do exactly as they wish and take crap when they are in a bad mood. I couldn't deal with her very effectively, hence we are merely acquaintances now.

Sorry to hear you went through such an ordeal and that things went so far as to cause a break in your friendship. Some folks, however, do better by themselves due to their unpredictable moods..poor soul

I have a relative that describes perfectly, and I cannot ever read them. I have to wait until we are in the conversation for a few minutes. Then if I see they are in the wrong mood, I just steer clear. When they are in a good mood, or normal mood for most people, I feel we are very close.

You seem to know how to manage the moody though..great idea..try to read the moods..I guess you must come to really know a person before you can read them and know when it's best to approach or not to approach them.

i am a moody person myself. :p *peace* when i'm having a mood swing, i stay away from others and people can feel me so they try to stay away from me too. although there are some people who don't know me and might still interact with me if i have a mood swing, i just keep calm and treat them in a very civil way. ^__^;; my bestfriend though can treat me anyway she wants even if i'm feeling off! and i can't do anything about it since she's my bestest of friend. LOL

You need a lot of patience in dealing with them per se. Patience is indeed a virtue. I know many moody individuals. I am moody sometimes, I must admit. Well, moody people just need our attention. They need help.

Hi littlefranciscan! I know one person who is so moody! i used to please her and to just be very careful in dealing with her but that didn't work out because I felt being taken advantage. Now, I just let her and ignore her ways. Because whatever I do, I just can't seem to figure her out. Take care and have a nice day.

I have a friend who have this kind of characteristic. If she's not on the mood, I will not talk to her until she starts a conversation with me. Its hard actually coz there are times that we are laughing and then suddenly she change her mood and get mad at me which I cannot understand if I did something wrong. I think sometimes, you just have to be patient and used to it. She's your friend so you have to understand and accept her whoever she is. If you cannot stand such attitude, you better stop seeing her/him, i guess...=)
