I went to my surgeon yesterday

I couldnt talk about it when I got home yesterday because I was really upset. But Im okay now so I will explaine it to you. The procedure will be the same as before he will go through the front of my neck to repair the bad disk. And this is the part I wasnt expecting then he make another incision in the back of my neck and put in two bars next to my spinal cord. That should prevent this from happening again. And at first I wont have much movement with my neck untill its healed. What a shock to me! I call them next week and they will give me a date for surgery. It wont be till after the holidays. So thats it folks. Im really trying to be strong. And all of you guys have been great with keeping my spirits up and I want to thank you all. And big hugs to all of you. I feel so bad for my husband he is so upset about it.

I must have missed one of your discussions about this, Terry...what is wrong with your neck?

Last year I had a herniated disc C5 and they operated on that. A couple of months ago I started having pain again and the disc above the one they fixed is now herniated real bad. If I dont have surgery and I turn a certain way I could be paralized. So its surgery for me. But this time they are going in the back of my neck and the front of my neck. So Im really scared! I will keep you informed.Thanks its nice to have friends like you.

Oh wow Terry, I didn't know and I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I guess I would look at it like this...better to have the surgery for a few hours in comparison to being paralyzed for the rest of your life. I just know you are going to be fine...too many prayers and good thoughts are coming your way, and please think of that before your surgery starts. We are all your miracle workers here, you'll see. Trust me on this one. We all just love you to pieces!

Hi,
I know how you must be feeling but trust me your surgeon is doing the best for you and I wish you a speedy recovery and touch the magical figure of 10000 posts on mylot!!
I have a fractured L5 and I went to see my spinal surgeon who explained to me the whole procedure. Being a doctor only added to more apprehension on my part. I have a condition called as spondylolisthesis and I need bone grafts from my hip bone which will be placed from the abdomen onto the vertebral column at the level of L5 along with fusion of L4-S1 which means a lifelong limitation of flexion of my spine. I have not made up my courage yet and will decide shortly. Sorry to bug you with my problem but I wish you all the best.

I am so sorry that you are foing to have to go through this again. Hopefully when it is all over, you will be glad you did it. I am sure your husband is more upset because you are and he knows how hard it is going to be for you for a while.

Sweetie I am so sorry but you will be ok you have to be ok and you have to be strong as Gissi and me need you to be strong and you know my Thoughts are with you and they will be with you all the time no matter how I am
Your Husband will be upset about it as he will worry, he will be ok Sweetie give him a hug from me and tell it will be fine

It is amazing what doctors can do these days. And a good thing is that you will not have to miss the holidays. You and your husband (who is probably like you in that he carries his heart in your sleeves) would be more upset if you could not spend Christmas and New Years together. Right now, it is just the anticipation and the worry that has gotten you done, but it is not as if you had to wait six months.
So now take it easy, do not go tearing your hair out. At least you will be better.

No I will be by myself when the hubby goes to work. But I will be fine. Im just glad I have insurance. Thanks for your prayers I think Im going to need them.LOL And thanks for keeping me laughing because I really dont want to think about it. Love you too!

In God all things are possible, I will be praying for you that the surgery goes well and you heal real fast. You are a very special person and I know you are a very strong person, hang in there. I am glad you have decided to go through surgery, it's the best decision you could have done.

Oh crap is all I can say. I'd be upset too my friend if I had news like this. All I can say is that with this surgery hopefully you won't be in anymore pain after you're all healed up, and at least you won't have the surgery until after the holidays..uh, which Thanksgiving or Christmas? Anyway you just know my prayers are with you on this and lots of hugs to you ((((((hugs))))
