Yes, the diseases and ailments on the show are real. They are taken from real medical textbooks and the show has doctors on staff to help with writing the medical jargon and to make sure the show seems accurate. I remember last season (I think it was) there was an episode about a person that ended up having 2 different sets of DNA in their body that screwed up diagnosis. I knew from about 10 minutes in what it was because I had just watched a show on the Discovery channel about chimeras--people that have this condition. I also figured out the Münchhausen's by Proxy episode rather quickly because the disease fascinates me.

yep! i think so because when i started watching it, i watched it with my parents and they're both doctors. whenever i had a hard time understanding the medical terms, i would always ask them about it.

I think the diseases are real, I think a lot of times though they have to come up with all kinds of symptoms that are not likely to ever occur in real life.

I'm pretty sure that the episodes on House are based on true diseases. Otherwise, that program would have flopped a long time ago. Anyway, I enjoy watching it and have to admit being addicted to it --- have to watch it every Tuesday night, no matter how tired I am.

Yeah, they're all real diseases. They acutally have a doctor on the writing staff, and 2 or 3 others that consult, just to make sure things are kept as accurate as possible. I think there's probably some room for error and misinformation, seeing as it is a TV show, but for the most part, I'd say it's pretty accurate.

I read somewhere that the show hired people to research real medical cases that have happened and then they use them on the show so yes the cases on there are real they have actually happened to someone.
