No don't remove the cover from the vent. You may have put too much rice and water in the cooker. Did your cooker come with a measuring cup? We have n armour but I think that they all work pretty much the same. WE still have to watch the rice or it will burn. Next time try using less rice and water. I'm sure you know that it is 1 part rice to 2 parts water. Maybe you should start with 1 cup rice to find the cookers capasity.

Thank you for responding to this, the cooker I got has the cup and has measurements on the side to where the water for 4 cups 6 cups and so on goes up to.. so I only put 4 cups in as that was the smallest measure on the cooker...the rice turned out good but way too much so I froze some of it... I wonder if it would be ok to just put 2 cups in even though it doesn't have a water measure for 2 cups, I might so what you said 1 part rice 2 parts water...thanks your wonderful....

yes take the plastic off, also wash it very well its more than likely got formaldahyde on it. then wash and rinse your rice to water runs clear, place it in the pot fill with cold water general rule put the tip of your thumb on the top of the rice and put cold water in until it reaches the top cuticle on your thumb

Yeh I just rang the company I bought the cooker from he said I don't have to have the steam vent in, he said I can take that out so I will try it the next time I use it. Thanks for your tip, I appreciate it.
