Hi,everybody! It's winter now and days are becoming shorter.Do you feel more sleepy in the morning when you need to get up.It's always dark outside when I have to get up in the morning.I really wanna stay in my bed and I'm not willing to get up during the winter time. Do you also have such feelings? How do you deal with that? Why do you think that happens?

Hello dear fanji. I think that you are right that we do not want to get up that early in the morning in winter because of the cold weather because it is the same with me. But I have to say that maybe it is because of my going to bed late at night that makes me unwilling to get up that early. I think that I need to sleep earlier at night and then I would probably not have such a feeling. lol. Thanks for your discussion, dear fanji.

You are absolutely right,i do feel very sleepy.i have to go to my college almost by 9 in the morning,so usually i get up by 6.but now since winter has started i am just not able to get up so early asits too cold.i still remain in blanket till its 8 in the morning.now as far as dealing with this.i follow an eye for eye approach,that is i just remain in bed as long as i can to counter the winter(lol!!).i mean its really hard for me to leave my sleep and do anything.so for me winter is sleeping time.

yes like most of us, i also feel more sleepy in winter. I think however we try, there is no natural way for it. I try to sleep a bit early in winters than the normal time of year. when my sleep is complete, its easy to wake up. Still somehow it becomes tough job.

Hello. It is true that the days of coldness are shorter, and I also admit which agreement later. I believe what is because of the tiredness. When there is more coldness, the persons have a tendency to be more tired and, consequently, they try to sleep more, to try to recompose the energies. To treat it, i look whenever i get up, to take a bath of hot water, that helps me to wake up and to prepare me for the day that will come. Bye ^^;

hi fanji! well, we don't really have winter here in the philippines. but what we have here are tropical depressions. and when it rains, the air is a bit nippy, so like right now, i am wearing a denim jacket as opposed to my usual sleeveless shirts. anyway, yeah, i do feel a little lazy when it is cold, such as i don't want to work but just watch tv or do internet surfing or cook and eat. i don't want to go out. it's good because i work freelance so i don't have to go out everyday if i don't have to or want to. :-) but during christmas, even when there is no rain, the weather does get a little cold. and i like it. because during hot months, the air is very humid and i don't like it. i get skin allergies because of the heat and humidity. :-)

Yes I do feel more sleepy in the winter time. So what I do is take a nap in the afternoon.LOL That always works for me.LOL I think its because its cold outside and the heater is on and it feels so good to sleep.

yes I do feel like that in the winter. and why? Because there is not so much sun like it is in the summer and sun make us happier and we feel like we have more energy. Also I think our body is working slowlier in the winter and need more nergy for making our body warm. Also how you said when we wake up and there is still dark outside, our body think it still time to sleep. How do i deal with it? Not very good, i really feel tired I just purchase some vitamins for me.

Yes, I feel the same way too. Rainy days can really make you feel sleepy. From what i've read it's all because of changes in our body temperature and melatonin level. Melatonin is a body hormone that is responsible in determining when we fall asleep and when we wake up. It is said that during winter or on a rainy day our body temperature lowers which signals the increase of melatonin level in our body. This then results to us feeling sleepy. Same thing happens during night time. But come the day time when we get to feel the sunlight our body temperature rises making melatonin level lower thus making us feel awake. Whenever you feel the same way again i suggest you open the lights or windows because the presence of light stops melatonin activity in our body.
