according to the Butterball site online, 75% of Americans think that spending time with family is the best thing about Thanksgiving. Each year, the Butterball company reminds everyone that it is important to properly prepare your turkey for dinner. This year is no exception. They have a wonderful web site set up to help with everything for your Thanksgiving Dinner. There is even a section for getting the kids involved. The link is:

I am Canadian and we have our Thanksgiving early. There are only the two of us, but when we had our sons and our daughter-in=law plus the baby over we had ham because my daughter-in-law is allergic to all of the parsley family, carrots, and celery plus oregano. Before they were married, we used to get a turkey and have the stuffing down on the stove. We sort of follow the Mid West version of those suggested and I remember when we lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where most of my husband's family lived, we usually bought a Butterball turkey and we had that along with mashed potatoes, corn, salad, and some other vegetable.

We always have a turkey, mashed pot, gravy and such. I love holiday meals. Thanks for your comment.

I would agree that spending time with family is one of the best things about Thanksgiving. I think the food is also one of the highlights ... but we spend some time thanking God for what has happened over the past year and it's such a wonderful time of reflection and usually tears. Then we sing praise songs and fall into a turkey coma!!
I also bet the Butterball makes a killing this time of year!

I just checked out the regional recipes. Turkey with cranberry orange glaze? Yuck. My turkey is roasted and basted with the juices from the bottom of the pan. LOL. It is a good idea to have tips for the first timers though. I know many who leave the giblet packet inside the bird. They realize the mistake once the turkey is carved!
