Talk about the rich having nothing better to do than to come up with these kind of expensive stuff.
Exotic as it may be, why would anyone want to swallow gold?
For the rich, isn't gold suppose to be worn and flaunted?
Pay so much money to buy a desert, the only thing this desert is going to become is just like any other digested food!
Man, no wonder the host in the show I was watching on Discovery said that the rich man's dollar is the best dollar to earn if you know how to cater to their wants.
Wants... hmmrph... more like whims to me!

Lol! It's so funny that you brought that up. I just heard about that place and dessert earlier today, but for a completely different reason. The restaurant that produced that dessert was just shut down due to failing it's second health inspection. They apparently have an infestation of mice and cockroaches. The article on that can be found here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071115/od_uk_nm/oukoe_uk_dessert_cockroaches

Really now? Wow, with all that obscene money that this fella is making, who would have guess that they could even hire someone to keep the restaurant clean!
Thanks talisman for sharing!
Seems like this Serendipity 3 restaurant is a favorite among celebrities. Is their food that good? Or is the price that good that is why celebrities are going for it?

That is just insane paying that much for ANY dessert or food (unless it's for a charity event or something.) What a waste of gold, and money! Funny that this same restaurant was on MSN news this morning about being shutdown because of unclean conditions (mice and cockroaches.) Maybe they should have spent some of their money/profits on pest control.

guess the desert is expensive not because of what is entering our system. it's more of the 'accessories' that comes with it. you get to take home the golden spoon you ate with. and of course the diamond bracelet that comes as a side.
and talking about them being closed down. health inspection officers actually found a live mice in the restaurant! this is scary given the kind of price this place charges. now i'm starting to wonder about the hygiene level of our local restaurants.

Yup, saw the news too...
Apparently you get to keep the golden globet too that holds the desert. You know what I think? I think you get to keep the globet so that you can use it later to contain the "thing" that comes out later....Well, who knows if you might want to filter the gold from them? :D
