Now a days... Mobile phones are on a boom Many manufacturers are making a variety of cel phones just to get as many as consumers in their pocket..! we use them for Listening songs Internet Pics SHaring games b'day reminders Sms last but not the least --- Calling! everyone wants a good cel phone! besides all these reasons the basic purpose is being forgotten to sum extent i.e.,calling as sms is taking on a high role So do we really need a celphone for calling or just to show off??? I think mobile phones are not a necessity. They do make our lives a whole lot more livable. In todays society its all go go go. I'm never in the same place at the same time. So its difficult to get ahold of me. I use my cellphone mainly for keeping in touch with people. I also use it as a watch and an alarm clock.

no I do not. Food is a necessity. Shelter and medical attention are a necessity. There are places in the world right now that people do not even have clothing to wear. Children are starving all over the world. I do not think if they had a cell phone it would make much difference to them. The point is you could live without a cell phone, therefore it is not a necessity.

mobile phones are defantly a necessity, we need them to contact friend and family, arrange plans for work or school, and incase of emergancy. they are very important and we can now access movies, videos, music and the internet on mobile phones. whats dissapointing is that some schools try to ban their students from having mobiles, what if on the way home your child is in an accident, how can they phone home? or if another situation hapopens where they need to make a phone call and a pay phone isnt near by. we rely on mobile phones alot but some people do buy just to show off, in my opinion they are just for contact purposes.

Mobile Phones - They are not just for show off
Mobile phones are not just for show off, they are intended to offer services and they can save you in your greatest time of need. I want to give a scenario in my city. Thieves attacked my neighbor-there were two doors to break before they could get to his bed room. As soon as they started breaking the first door, he rang 999 and police and before they could break the second the police were at the door-they were promply arrested. If you buy a good expensive phone, it could have services such as the internet, and you could very easily get logged into vital infor. A phone, especially mobile is never for show off!

You know what, I think it depends on the user. I think there are definitely some people who have cell phones strictly as a necessity. And those individuals don't upgrade to a new phone every single time they release the new latest gadget that can cook, clean, and feed you. Haha! But, there are some that really do love to have the latest and like to try and keep up with the Jones'. Now, I am not saying that it is still not a necessity, but whether or not having a mobile phone that can do it all may not be a necessity.

If a pocket-size device can handle many or all of my daily communications/entertainment/many other needs, then yes, it's a necessity!

yes, i definitely believe that mobile phones are now a necessity. With it, you can do a lot of things even when you're outside your home or office. it can be a calculator, calendar, clock, reminder, radio all rolled into one gadget. You may even take a look at the stored pictures when you miss your loved ones. And most importantly you can be reached through calls or text messages anywhere in the world.

I think moblie phone is a very big necessity as far as i am concerned.i have got a lot of friends and i cant expect all my friends to ring on my land phone and wait to get me on line.,also it really disturbs when the phone keeps ringing and i have to be called all the time to attend the phone.since i am a college student ,i have got many works to do and at many times i might not be at home and during those times ,i think i do need the mobile phone the most.the most important thing is my mobile is not a multipurpose device, its a simple phone and so also,i se it only for communication purpose and not for naything else.so i believe there is no showoff associated with that.

I guess mobile phones have become varied in their purposes. The primary reason remains calling. However people want other features as well. That leads to packing in high feature cell phones. If we were to remove the calling/sms features of a cell phone, I am sure it would find no buyers. People buy cell phones to call, but they want more when they are not calling!!

Mobile phones being one of the easiest ways for communications have become an indispensable gadget for everyone . In the fast paced world, its obvious that everyone is busy and no one has time to meet people in person. In such a situation your mobile phone plays a crucial role. With technological advancement, new mobile phones are much more advanced as compared to the older one that people would use a few years ago.there are many more advantages of mobile phones ,so they are a necessity in today's world

mobile phone is considered a necessity in these days. it has brought the world together. but the younger generation and to some extent the elderly people are misusing it there by causing lot of problems. for instance, while driving a car or riding a motor bike one should not use phone,as it may divert attention and cause accident resulting in casualties. similarly while driving one should not use mobile phone for hearing music as it may adversely affect you.do not forget that the basic purpose of mobile set is to call some body at the time of needs.

I have blackberry through T-Mobile & I use it for everything... Mine is for necessity than "showing off"... I use my phone for work & personal purpose... I get emails & calls from work... There are times I have to make a call for work purpose myself, I have schedule in my phone, all the customer contact numbers in my phone...

I don't think cell phones are a necessity. The do make life a whole lot easier sometimes, though! I don't think they are really to show off anymore, though, either. With everyone, including children, having cell phones they cannot be considered a status symbol as they once were. I think cell phones have just become part of normal life.
