Reality check

Here we go people it's time for a shot of reality! Now the last time I checked people like Paris Hilton, Nicole Ritchie, Mel Gibson, and many other Celebrities/"celebutants" were made of flesh, bone, and blood. I am not against celebrities per say, however I am against the quote unquote "Rich and Famous" being treated like they are better than everyone else. It's understandable that a club owner, or even restaurant owner would give preferential treatment to a star. this is done to further their own financial aspirations and to get some "free press". What makes me angry is the laws are supposed to be there to govern us but they are all are constantly being bent to the whims of sulking starlets, or even brooding bad boys. It makes me sick, I mean not all of us have the money, the power or the influence that stars have that is plainly obvious. When that power is tossed in our faces how are we the working people supposed to not be morally outraged that celeb drunk drivers get a slap on the wrist, and a "don't do it again" yet 2 days later they they are again driving with suspended license... Now I guess it's not even the crime that pisses me off so it's that these people have the money for a car and driver, limos, and even helicopters but they CHOOSE to drive drunk and then whine about the consequences. Children of privilege are NOT and should NOT ever think that they are above the law just because you make what I watch does not mean you are above the laws that govern us all. Those that are in the public eye should realize they CHOSE the life and they are what our children look up to. It seems so simple and it really is: If you want to leave a legacy of bad decisions, drunken driving, and just plain stupidity then maybe being a "star" is not the business you need to be in. We need to demand more or our so called celebs and the news that is printed about them.

All it takes is for more people to get tired of the double standard, and the more it happens the more we as a society will require that the news is just that news! One day the law will work for everyone not just those with moeny and influence.
