As a part time crafter I try to make personalized itmes for my family and friends for the holidays, birthdays, baby showers, etc. The gifts are often well received and much appreciated (and sometimes I get custom orders from their friends ) I took a pledge to buy handmade for the holidays and the crafts I don't make, such as bath/body, I've been buying for myself and for family members with skin issues (and they have all said the skin problems is gone...from dry skin to allergy problems the soaps aren't causing them any of the problems they've suffered from for yrs) I also took the pledge to buy handmade because it's often better made than massed produced, always more enviromentally friendly than mass-produced and that means better for us and our children. If you agree with any of this, paste the following link in your browser and take the pledge. http://buyhandmade.org/ It's totally free and it only takes a few minutes to fill out the info. So who else tries to buy or make handmade/homemade items for the holidays?

I buy handmade whenever I can because I like to support people who take the time to craft something worthwhile. That usually means buying locally, too. Cottage industry needs all the support we can give it. It's the lifeblood of a fair market system.
