What is life?

Do you know why we are here in this world? Why God created us? Sometimes I wonder. In the bible, it is said that we were created to serve God. But some people is just not fit for that post. If God is so much understanding, then why does people continue to preach that giving your full life to God is the only way to receive salvation?
