Going to A Christmas Fair at -20'C

Christmas Fair in Sodankylä - Christmas Fair in downtown Sodankyla, November 17, 2007
Finland

Woke up this morning and jolted when I realized it was -20'C. I had a date with a Brit friend to meet at the Christmas fair in downtown Sodankylä, Finland. It is my first Christmas fair, so I wanted to go there to see what they had in store. Turned out there were lots of things they sold, like X-mas decorations, warm sweaters, woolen hats and socks, cakes, gingerbread cookies, wall hangings, etc. Here's a pic of one of the vendors. Wanna know what I put on to make sure this tropical girl was warm enough? I put on a pair of long john pants (the regular ones made of cotton), another pair of angora long john pants (VERY VERY warm!!!), a pair of leg warmers, and two pairs of socks (a pair of thin summer socks and another warm pair of socks). Then I put on a short-sleeved top (made of cotton) and a long-sleeved top (dunno what it is made of but it's VERY warm). Then I put on my long anorak and I also brought a long shawl with me to cover up my face in case it felt too cold. Plus of course I had my pipo (woolen hat) and a pair of thermal gloves. With all those layers of clothes, surprisingly it actually didn't feel too cold. I thought I would feel too cold and go back home right away ha ha ha...'coz I had to walk to the place. Are there any X-mas fairs in your place or near your place? And when it's so cold outside, do you go out? If you do go out, how many layers of clothes have you put on? Do you have a long anorak? Anyway, since today's cold outside, hubby and I are going to enjoy sauna later this evening. YIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPPIIIIIIIIIEEEEE!!! ;-D I hope you're having a WONDERFUL weekend, everybody!!!

Hi ailema, yeah we have something like that every year in homecity and o love to go there since there is so much stuff to get there. we have one in the inside and some like chirtsmas market outside. Well that in that first one are students from school seling their product , what they made and sometimes you are really surpriced what those kids can make. It can be cold in Slovakia too, but not as cold like you said. I would probably wear the same thing going on fair in Finland. Because how you said when you are cold, you are just not comfortable anymore and want to go right home. I have been like that with my colleagues and we eat and get some punch, but it was so cold I have to leave earlier. But the best christmas fair I have even seen is in Wien, so if you will eve have chance to visit this city don't forget to go to the Christmas fair. By the way i am trying to go all the time to different one Christmas fair, last year I was in Budapest and year before in Nurenberg. Anyway that sauna sounds good.:)

Hi, laurika! So you've got X-mas fairs, too? COOL!!! Ohhhh...students selling products? That's also GOOD then 'coz it means they can be creative. I'd LOVE to see what students an make. I think in the fair I went to, the products were made by adults he he... Wien? You mean Vienna? I'd LOVE to visit that place someday. ;-D Maybe later then when I have more money, I'll visit many different places and X-mas fairs he he he... Yup, the sauna went well and it was so relaxing that I felt sleepy afterward ha ha ha ha...

We have a Holiday Craft & whatever Fair at a hall less then a mile from me.I have rented 2 spaces for my 2 businesses...Which work well together. I am very involved with promoting environmental awareness so I am with Shaklee. I believe in buying quality products that do not have to be replaced for years..Pampered Chef...In this way people equipt themselves with kitchenware that last ...so less you won't be replacing and having to fill the landfills with extra garbage. I am so happy you had a great time..I know I will have fun.. xoxoxoxo
