There's that saying that I always thoguth was neat about the kind of person you can choose to be. You can be a carrot, and egg, or a coffee bean. Think of boiling water as the hardship or 'adverse experience'. The carrot responds to the boiling water by becoming soft and limp. Like his spirit is broken. The egg responds by becoming hardened. But the coffee bean changes the situation and makes it better, instead of letting the situation get him down or affect him negatively. He uses it to make something positive in the end that is better for both. So what kind of person are you?? I think I want to start a discussion about this saying!! Thanks for the idea!

It will depend upon the type of adverse experience. I think our experiences teach us a lot and make us tough or soft as per the situation. I think, it will depend upon situation to situation, whether we become soft to a particular situation or tough. But, I also believe that basic character of a person does not change, if he is tough.....he would basically remain tough.

I think it depends totally on the person. Some people break down and some people become stronger by their experiences. Though I do believe in 'Experiences maketh a man'...I fell you have to take into consideration the basic character of the person too. How the person chooses the experience to affect them depends solely on the person concerned. I also feel that toughening yourself is a quality that can be acquired. It's all in the mind.

I believe that it all depends on how you respond to the experiences in your life. The experiences in life are meant to make you a stronger and a better person. But, if you quit or give in, you wont aquire the strentgh that you need to make it to the next phase in your life. This would ultimately cause you to either go backwards or stand still. If you do either of these long enough, you will eventually become weak. Good experiences come when you make it to the next phase.

Based on my experiences, I'm very tough when it comes to communism and Venezuela needs to be careful or they are going to end up like Cuba.

You can say that cause you have the experience.

I think experiences can make a person tough or soft. It depends on the person and the experiences. some people can have horrible experiences such as abusive parents, abusive boyfriends, physical accidents and still be soft whilst others can have a pamperd life and be tough.

Haven't you ever seen a soft person turning tough by the adverse conditions.

Yes definately! And thats usually the way it goes. I'm just saying that the opposite can happen as well depending on the person and the circumstances. Its really sad when a soft person hardens like that. I often put on a thicker shell to cover my softer side. Its coping mechanism.

HI & Hello my friend Balasri. I do think that it totally depend on the positive thinking on that particular person for what ever predicaments and ordeals that they have faced it previously. Because positive thinking will make them tough as they always look for solution findings and not for otherwise. HAPPY DAPPY
