Friends I am trying to give my Statebank of India account in pay pal , there they are asking IFSC code.What is it? I checked in my pass book too, not able to find any such code.can you pls explain what is it and how to get that particular code?

I too have a State bank account. And just 2 days back I withdrew my money from paypal. IFSC code is a code which consits of alphabest and numbers. Each state bank branch has a particular bank code. IFSC code just locates the bank. For example if the bank code of the branch where u have ur state bank account is 4556. Then the IFSC code will be SBIN0004556. But I am not sure . Ti may change depending on the area where the State Bank Branch is located. You can obtain the IFSC code of all State bank Branches at http://www.sbi.co.in/branchlocator.jsp . Just do a search by typing the bank code. And u will get all details of that banch including the IFSC code. Or just give me the branch of STate bank where u have your account. I will provide you the IFSC number. Best Wishes!

Thanks for giving information on IFSC. I also want to withdraw money from paypal to my SBI savings a/c. But they are asking IFSC code. I dont have cheque book & i tried in net. But i didn't find. Please tell me the ifsc code of SBI(patamata branch, Vijayawada) & also it allows a NEFT facility or not. My emailid is prasad.suman06@gmail.com or u can send to my mylotid also. Hi
I have paypal account and tried for withdraw but my money did not reached in my SBI bank account.It became reverse.I am not understanding my mistake.My bank branch code is 006423.Can you give a perfect IFCS code so that i can withdraw my money and it will come in my bank account without any problem.Please help me.I am very disappoint.

Hi,
I give u the right information regarding this, since i deal with IFSC codes in my project.
IFSC code is a eleven digit alpha numeric code number that helps in uniquely identifying a branch of a bank(not bank) in any given city. As others said the IFSC code will be printed in cheque book above the serial number of the cheque.

IFSC stands for Indian Financial System Code. A unique code given to each branch of each bank to make it easy to locate the branch while transacting with respective bank. How you get one, either visit the banks web site or call there customer support and ask for IFSC Code for a given branch.

Now you need not to go any where to find IFSC code , here i found a useful site where you can find any bank or branch IFSC code with so ease. It really so simple to find it by the drop down box , only you have to select Bank, state, City and Branch or Locality of your bank.

It's a special code assigned to each bank. It will not be seen in your pass book. But if you ask at your bank, they will tell you what the code. It is a unique code identifying each bank..something like a pin code.
You can even call up your bank and ask them for the code.
Hope you get the code quick (first check if State Bank of India is included in the list of banks that Paypal pays to). I'm yet to go to my bank and find my IFSC code. I'll be doing it this week sometime.

i'm sure you've understood what IFS code means. anyway, insteadind of searching here and there on the internet, just look into your chequebook.
the code will be printed on leaf of your chequebook. hope my suggestion was helpful.
