Hamsters for pets

I had many hampsters when I was younger. I always thought they were sweet. If you get the right hampster they're really sweet and are wonderful companions.

A number of my friends have kids with pet hamsters. They say it's a great first pet for kids because it's more interactive and lives longer than a fish and it is much less responsibility than a cat or dog. They learn to take care of something without it being overly difficult to do. And as will inevitably happen, the hamster will die and the kids will learn about loss. Everyone that I've talked to has said that a hamster is a great starter pet.
