what do you think about chatting online

I have several people that I chat to on a constant basis, but they were my friends before my chat experiences (coworkers, relatives, etc.) I do speak to several people regularly who I have never met face to face, but we share hobbies (gunsmithing, reloading) or interests. We dish ideas back and forth and discuss our successes and problems with our crafts. I do hop in a room occasionally to waste some time and just to partake in some casual banter, but I find that more often than not there are idiots lurking around. They make themselves known very quickly by using the annoying "BUZZ!" or constantly asking your 'asl' (even after you don't reply to them)....what a waste. I constructed a profile so those questions wouldn't be necessary, but certain participants refuse to look at it and always have some type of idiotic motive (cybering or something equally lame). It's frustrating for those of us that just want to head in for some innocent chat and just to make some coffee shop talk. It's overrated in some aspects, but can be fun and useful in others. There are cretons everywhere, it just seems that they are in abundance in the chat rooms, sometimes it gets frustrating trying to weed the idiots and the bots out just to have a decent conversation. I like to chat with people on the internet. I use it as a way to communicate with friends and family if I don't feel like talking on the phone

I will treat it as a new way of communications.

you do have to be carefull. My brother met his wike online, they have ben married for 7 years now. So you just never know!

Anything which is new thru technology is very nice in the beginning but later it becomes CRAP. The side effects starts growing more and more. When Yahoo chat was introduced it was a craze in India but later people realized that it is not good all the time. Every new communication becomes good and bad with the people. Some people use it for communication between friends and use it for wrong sense. I think chatting online is a waste of time nowadays as ther isn't much of interest in it as most of the people say lies to gain trust and do stupid stuff.
