Routine baby Vaccines took away my happy baby

My sweet little baby always greets me every morning with a great big smile ear to ear. Some people might not believe me if I tell them that my baby was always smiling at me and babbling when she was born. Most of my family members are witness to those occasions. We took her in for her regular vaccine shots at six month of age. We given her some Tylenol as instructed and took her into the pediatrician's office. After the shot she developed a fever which lasted for 3 days then a cold that lasted about a week. From six month to eight month of age she didn't smile nor did she sleep through the night. We thought we lost our happy baby forever, thank God we got our happy baby back. Did you ever experience the same thing with your baby after routine vaccine shots?

I have experienced a few days of grumpiness after vaccines but that is crazy.Did you take her to a doctor? did they have any thoughts on why that might have happened. I am glad your baby is back to normal I think that would be quite scary

I did and basically told that it was normal. But, it sounded anything but normal to me. I went online like a mad woman trying to find out if this was normal. I learned that these vaccines can even kill your child, some have had minor to major effects (such as autism). I keep calling the doctor to ask if this is okay and if it was normal. Her doctor kept on telling us that it's okay every baby have their own different effects from the shots. She told me that in due time she will be herself again. I didn't think it took this long though.

I think half the time they just tell you that there going to be fine because they don't really know.I don't think there is anyway that I baby should react like that.It is frightening how old is she now? are you going to take her for her next set of shots??

She is now 9 month old, we barely got her happy self back. We are scared to bring her back for her next set of shots. I am not sure what we going to do.

Vaccines are actually small doses of the fever/disease to get your child's immune system to react & kill them off - which makes them stronger. You will always get a temperature/fever with them & of course a grumpy baby that can last a little while - although the older my daughter got the shorter the time frame got with her being grumpy. It does get easier i promise, at 12 months, my daughter had a fever for only 1 day & she was only grumpy for the 1 day, her next is in a few weeks for 18 months & i am hoping for the same. The fever your daughter had for 3 days is normal for a 6 month old (my daughter was about the same), the cold however, might have been caused from something else so you shouldn't jump to conclusions that it was from the vaccines :) Colds & flu's are usually caught from other people so if you went somewhere that had sick people (shopping centres, grocery stores etc), they could have given it to her since they're airborne germs & really cant be prevented unless you resort to never leaving the house. Good Luck for your next lot of shots!

Thank goodness, we are not alone then. I am still scared to take her in again though. It helps to know that someone else experienced something similar, but the thought of my little baby going to be grumpy and sad for another few months breaks my heart. Thanks you for your comment.

my baby girl just got her 4months shot this week, and the next day she was not herself, and my baby girl is all smiles also. but one thing i did was to cuddle her and gave her medicine(tylenol)when she had a fever. giving lots of hugs and kisses and laying her on my chest was one medicine that helped my baby girl bring her smiles back. thank GOD it only took 24hours for her to bring back her big smiles. LOTS OF UNCONDITIONAL LOVE is one medicine that only a mother can give a child after shots.im always nervous about the shots but i pray lots before they are given to her. from someone who understands
