Hi do you get attached to your students, do you stay in touch with a few of them after you have stopped teaching them, its nice when you can connect with a studnet and teenage students you can end up as their confidantes and informal counselors i sometimes miss some of my old students. Do you?

It's normal actually. In fact the feeling between teacher and student is very valuable.Especially they sitll keep touch with each other after teacher has stoppeed teaching students. Thus they begin to communicate with like good friends. The feeling between them will be more profound.but it's very unavoidable lossing some old students. After our energy and time is very limited.

Absolutely, and their children, and THEIR children, sometimes, lol. I am also still in touch with ones who have been my teachers long ago. One person who is my friend now was my teacher in the 50's. That is quite a long attachment.

Yes I do. Some, even after their college graduation. I am teaching in college. After 1 or two semesters, I still keep in touch with my students. If I see in in the cafeteria (or canteen) and I have no companion, i sit with them and talk with what they have as students. We also joke around and it's more comfortable since you know there is no fear of the issue of "favorites" because they are already out of your class. I also have students who became really good friends after their graduation and when they worked with us as faculty members. One of my closest friends was a student way back in 1998. It's also good to be counselors to our students especially if they have problems in their academic life and they have a hard time coping with it. Teachers should be there to help them.

I am teaching in high school and my students keep on coming to me sharing their experiences in college and even proudly say that they are good in a particular subject that we had discussed in high school. Oh this made me proud especially if these students are already professionals and having already their jobs. Through this i realized that students do not just forget their favorite teachers. Just like mine, too. Up to now, i still cherish the knowledge i learned from my teachers in grade school.
