really a monster-in-law

I'm still in my early 20s and yet to find a girlfriend. But what really makes me curious is that how did your mother-in-law agreed to the wedding between you and your partner when you don't get along well together? And how did your first meeting with your mother-in-law go since if her first impression of you is bad, she would have objected you and your partner's relationship straight away. Maybe I'm still naive and missing out on many things, but is it possible to explain to me about these things? Thanks in advance! =)

I must have been very lucky because I had the best mother in law in the world. Even after I divorced her son we were still very friendly and we always stayed in touch. I don't think you should forget her but try to find a way to get along with her.
