what i mean is would you rather spend all day slaving over the stove in the kitchen baking pies and cakes, struels and tarts and then decorating them nd having mostly sugar and flour messes to clean up or would you rather spend the day preparing dishes like casseroles and turkey salads and appetizers? i love to bake, i could bake all day everyday if i could... i love making cakes just for fun i'll take a designer cake pan like a race car or a princess etc etc and then after its all baked and ready to frost ill spend hours decorating it so that it loooks absoulty perfect! my husband on the other hand could spend hours in the kitchen cooking up ne and old receipes stirfrying and deep frying and making different cusines.. what about you? which would you prefer? whats your favorite dish?

I totally understand what you mean about how it is so enjoyable just decorating cakes--my isster & I are actually more focused on decorating cupcakes and enjoy it evry much... As for preferring cooking to baking---I think I prefer the latter though I do have lots of fun cooking as ell, they are both very challenging but I am able o express more of my artistic side in baking, especially in decorating cakes =)

you're welcome =) if you look at my avatar--these are actually the "cookie monsters" that my sister & i make usually for kids' birthday parties--we make the decors ourselves & let the kids decorate it--they really enjoy this & inspire them to be artistic =) haha when I reach 500, I'll make sure to post more of our baked goodies =) haha I wonder when that will be though! ;)

I salute you to that because you know how to bake. And you have patience to bake. About me, I really dont know how to bake, but i do some dessert like salads and float. But in baking i did try it yet. Maybe im afraid if i do baking i might failed. I mean the cake or the menu i suppose to do it will turn into nothing, hehehe... In cooking, i do only a simple dishes only for our meal. But cooking like the steak, or etc, i dont know how to.

well thank you for the salute! its nice to be apprciated every now and again no matter on what the appreciation is for. I can cook as well , but i prefer to do all the quick fix meals.. i just dont have the passion for cooking as i do baking. my husband on the other hand like isaid could sit in the kitchen for hours working on the perfect meal and then almost not want to eat it becaues it came out so "perfectly!" tahnk you for your resposne

I MUCH prefer to bake. There's nothing like Christmas time when you get to bake cookies, cakes, fudge, & all kinds of goodies. Cooking makes me lazy. It requires a lot more time, the clean up can be really cumbersome & I just like sweets more than anything. I know. I'm bad! LOL

I love to cook. I'd much rather 'cook' than 'bake'. I would much rather save my baking to a special event. I bake a lot a Christmas time. I am always messing in my kitchen. I always have something cooking. Is hard rock candy making considered cooking? It is on top of the stove, rather than the oven. I make that about once a month or so. I am making a homemade pizza tonight with homemade crust and hand shredded mozzerella cheese.

I don't really know which one I prefer. Depends on what kind of mood I'm in, I guess. I love to cook, when it's appreciated; my husband has told me 'good supper, hon', almost every time I have cooked for him over the last 21 years. That makes it worth it, and makes me want to cook a good meal for him. Like the other night, I make homemade chicken and noodles (I made the noodles, too), with mashed potatoes (no instant in my house!), and I just glowed, as he and my son told me countless times how good it was. On the other hand, we used to alternate having Thanksgiving at my house for his family, and on my years, I would cook most everything (which I don't mind doing), and his family would come at about 11:00 or so, HOVER (his sister) around the kitchen until the food was done, and then they'd all be gone by 2:00 at the latest. I quit doing that, because I didn't feel like it was appreciated. My family-it's a whole other deal. Big meals like that are meant for lunch and supper...you come, you talk, you eat, you talk, you eat some more, talk some more...etc... I do some baking at Christmas time, too, though. My sister and I had an annual 'cookie' day back home, where we would get together for one, maybe two days on a weekend in December. We would make all our favorite cookies and candy, and make up gift baskets to give to friends, family, and co-workers. I'm really gonna miss doing that with her this year. But my daughter is insisting that she and I carry on the tradition, so her and I will probably do it with my best friend and her girls. Other than that, I usually only cook something sweet if I'm craving it. I don't really have a favorite thing to cook.

Wow! I like to bake too but only on the rare occasion can I be found in the kitchen. But when it comes to a choice between baking and cooking I'll pick cooking every time. There is something about prepare something that takes 10 or 15 minutes and having a tasty treat at the end that just satisfies me. Of course something like my specialty peanut brittle take quite a bit longer but every time you still know you are going to get something worth while at the end. With cooking, for me, it is always hit or miss and I can almost never eat my own cooking because I know what's in it.

I would much rather spend all day baking then cook even one meal. I am not a very good cook but I can bake things like pie cake and brownies and they taste great. I just cook becasue I have to since I have a family but I don't enjoy it.

I definitely prefer to bake. It's so much easier than cooking and the flour messes aren't nearly as bad as splattered grease and everything else that goes along with cooking. I like to decorate cakes although I don't have the right equipment so I'm no very good at it. My favorite thing to bake is pie. I like to cut shapes into the top crust and rolling the dough seems very peaceful to me.

Well, I think I prefer cooking to baking 'coz I'm on a tight budget he he he...but if I were to have a bigger budget, I'd bake more often. I do like baking, too, trying out new recipes. ;-D I've just begun to learn to cook and bake, so I love trying to bake/cook anything. ;-D My fave dish depends on my mood, but I LOVE Chinese and Indonesian food. ;-D
