Could you survive without your purse?

I can never understand how men are able to fit their entire life into a wallet. If someone asked me to abandon my purse, even for five minutes, I'd be utterly lost. Actually my purse is now a big over-sized bag that carries all my daughter's stuff/toys for our mini day trips, along with a few personal ID items for myself and some plastic cash. I suppose I could keep some of her stuff in a box in the back seat of the car, so that I wouldn't have to continually lug it from the house to the car and back. That would eliminate my need to carry her stuff around in my cargo purse. And, I might be able to stash my photo ID and credit card in a pocket. But, where would I put my hair brush? Maybe I could keep a spare in the car for quick touch ups. Yes, I suppose that I could live without my purse, but it would not be easy to do so. What about you? Could you live without your purse? If you were required to carry only a pocket wallet, would you survive?

I actually carry just a wallet more often than a purse. I take the purse if I need something to carry larger things (paperwork, a book if I'm going to be waiting, etc). Otherwise, I just carry a little wallet -- actually it's not even a wallet, it's a business card holder, with my ID, cash and debit card. If my son is going with me, I'll usually carry the purse, so I can pack snacks and stuff for him.

Ditto! I have a very small purse that is more like a clutch. It has a place for checkbook, id cards, cash and such. I used it for everything and took it everywhere I went, before my baby was born. But, after she came along, I needed way more room. Sometimes I think that I should just pack a suitcase and keep it in the car with all her stuff that she needs. I guess that would be helpful, just in case we had to go out of town on emergency. Thanks for dropping by.

OMG the thought of ever losing my purse, I would hate to think, I have all information in my purse, and cards which I should really take note of because if I ever lost my purse well I just wouldn't know what to do...oh the thought of it.

Several years back, my spouse lost his wallet and all those id things you mentioned, including his license, id card, credit cards, social security card and more. Recently, when he applied for a new job with a new employer he had to get a copy of his social security card before they would even consider his application. It was such a hassle. I can't imagine living without all the essentials that I keep in my purse, but I guess even guys aren't immune from id loss.

I don't think I could live without mine either.I had the nickname of that lady off of The Golden Girls that always carried her purse. I was so bad about taking my purse with me even down the rode from my house.

I loved that show! I would still watch it, if we got Lifetime on cable. We don't have cable. Got netflix instead.

No living without a purse wont be much of a problem for me but moving out without one would surely be. I carry my hair brush, mobile, driving license and surely cash in my purse and moving out without all these things is not at all possible. Surely it is a very essential thing which one needs to carry when going out.

i can't really imagine if i ever lost my purse... i will be totally devastated... i can never go out without my purse as well... otherwise i will feel so lost... i can live without a purse, but not with my wallet... my wallet is much more important to me than my purse...

I don't think I could make it. I have papers and datebooks for all the Dr. appointments., I have my other son's medication, my wallet and other important things. My husband is always telling me that I should just carry a little purse, but there is no way.

Nope, I would not survive. My purse has so much stuff that I need, or will possibly need at any moment! I don't get men either; my son and husband have everything neatly tucked away in tiny (to me) bi-fold wallets and here I am shouldering a huge bag of junk. I don't see how anyone can leave the house without a hair brush, nail file, tweezers, wallet, gum, pens, pencils, a small notebook, keys, perfum, hairspray, lip gloss, lip stick, the list is endless! Ah..to be a man...maybe then my back wouldn't hurt so much.

I would DIE without my purse. I keep EVERYTHING in it...from hotwheels and power rangers to baby doll clothes and a play diaper bag. I have a "cargo purse" just like you, lol. I have a photo album, all of our id's, ss cards, shot records (which I know is bad, but I don't know where else to put them and as soon as I would put them somewhere else I would need them). I have recently been thinking about getting a smaller purse, but I think I would constantly be having to run back in the house for things and have cranky kids becuz I wouldn't have anything for them to play with in the car, or docs office, etc. Good discussion! Have a great day!

Finally! I have found someone who one upped me on the purse thing. Or, maybe you found me. You have way more than me in the purse dept. Maybe I am forgetting a few things for my purse. I must go reevaluate. Best of luck with purse and kids. Have a nice day!

hello beautyqueen. I think I would survive without my purse. Sometimes I didn't bring any purse or wallet if I am outing. I just bring some money and ID card in my pocket. That is all! Maybe because I just 16 years old girl, not need to bring all the things like you(a mother). I am a simple, don't like any messy thing I think I could survive by pocket wallet. It is not a big deal! HAPPY LUCKY. **prettyhanan**

i used to be a bag lady. wherever i go, i have this medium sized bag where i can put all my necessities inside (like an umbrella, comb, lipgloss, powder, wallet, mobile phone, handkerchiefs, etc.). seemed before that i could not survived going out somewhere without my bag. but now, i can go out without it especially when i am with my boyfriend. i just carry my mobile phone with me. there are even times when i leave my mobile phone at home when i feel so lazy bringing anything. i understand your situation. you have a kid and that you need a bag where you can put your kid's stuffs. anne

I don't carry a purse. The last time I had a purse was in 1995 when I was in high school. Everything I need is in my wallet. My house key is even attached to it and I carry it in my pocket. My car keys and wallet go in my pockets, too.

well i feel empty and lost with my purse as i also carry so many things in my bags. However that is not a big bag it is a small hand bag but watever i carry in that bag can't come in wallet. right like you my comb, small books to read during travelling, id cards etc cant come in a small wallet.

Hello beauty queen. I don't use wallet at all. I usually put my money in my pocket, but I won't put much unless I have to travel somewhere. I would rather use my bank card than bring with me too much cash. I would just have enough with me, which I think, is ok for me to spend on. Thanks for your discussion.

Since I had my son, his diaper bag doubles as my purse. I don't have a lot of things to carry with me, but it would be tough without a bag of some sort. I have a small pocket thing that holds cash, my ID and credit card. Other than that, it's just a few things- phone, chapstick, hand lotion, sometimes my checkbook, and my camera goes with me everywhere in case my son does something cute- which he always does. If I didn't have my lotion and checkbook, I wouldn't need a bag at all for my things. So I guess most of the time I would be fine without a purse.
