Creating a moneymaking list with free resources (and I DO mean FREE!)

I've read a little bit about creating a list to profit from, and i've heard the quote "The Money's in the List" repeatedly in almost every related ebook i've downloaded. But I don't want to spend any money on resources when it comes to list building. Landing pages, squeeze pages, splash pages, call it what you will, but since I can't create such a page on an ad-supported website at the risk of looking amateurish and unprofessional, I might want to create one on a blog like Blogspot. So is there a way to build a list using free resources that are simple and easy to put to use online? I've never had a list before, so I would love to create one. I've decided that my niches/topics/categories is self-help, personal development and self-improvement, and since I have a whole lot of ebooks related to such, I want to give them away in exchange for the essentials and the optionals of those who subscribe to my list: Essentials: -first name -email address Optionals: -Last Name -Address -Website -Other information So once again, is there a way to create a list-building page with free resources that are simple and easy to use, and avoiding the ones that cost one cent?
