Are you a writer? How much do you usually charge for a 500-word article? If you're not a writer but you want to be one, how much do you want to receive for a 500-word article?

I don't really know. I've written most of my stuff for free. I'd like to write professionally, but it's also important to "get your name out there."

This question has been bothering me for some time. I think it is always better to write for magazines and newspapers at home, rather than websites. I am told that a rupee per word is the standard rate in India. But, so far, I have not met a service buyer who offers that much. I have only met people who offer three dollars or a little more than three dollars for a five hundred word article. I guess there are too many writers around, and it is possible to purchase cheap writing labour. There are too many freelancers around, and you need to be really good to make it to the top of the ladder.

i used to get about $10 for 5oo words but not it has decreased dramaticly. there are places that will only give you $3- for 5oo words which is squat and really not worth the effort. there are such a glut of writers that there isnt a lot of work.
