In life we have been striving to be happy. we want to achieve happiness. many people finds it in material things but it only gives us happines for a short period of time, happiness found in material things is only temporary and we tend to want something else, but no matter what we buy nothing can make us happy. money can't buy true happiness. making a name for yourselves also does not make us happy after we received an award to be able to do something have not or create something that no had before create after receiving your awards and made a name for yourself you are still not happy. going into a relation with the girl/ guy of your dreams does not give you true happines it eventually fades... doing a job that you've always dreamed of doing. yes it will seem to be true happiness at first but eventually you will feel tired of it and lose that feeling. we search and find something that makes us happy but eventually you feel that their is something lacking as if you are not really happ the feeling of emptiness is still deep inside no matter what you do. It is always there. what is true happiness?? how can we be happy?? If you tried everything else what do you do to be truly happy?? what do you think??

That is exactly not the real meaning of happiness, you may be happy because you have the money and you can buy everything, but that is just temporary. The true happiness is that if you can share a little to the poor and help them. I believe you will have a great happiness through helping people.

it is ok, the above person's good karma is what enabled them to reap this material happiness...and they have the love of their family and can share even their problems with them...and they may even be sharing their wealth with the poor....stanzi

Happiness to me is freedom, having the freedom to be who you want to be and being able to do what you want to do. Happiness is also being with the people that you want to be with. Happiness is something that makes you smile everyday, no matter bad life is.

Yes happiness is freedom, but see to it that freedom is spent in good manners and nobody get heart.

I will say hapiness is a phase like grief. WHatever you feel its all goign to pass only change is what is permanent. May be there is nothing called true happiness, its all in our mind. if you concentrate on your blessings you will be happy, if you concentrate on what you are missing you will be unhappy.

True happiness is something that we should not be seeking for in life. I realize that sounds a bit radical and against the idea of "the pursuit of happiness," but that is not what we are made for. That's why things such as money, fame, or anything else on this earth cannot make us happy. Happiness is a fleeting thing--perhaps laughing at a joke, or holding one's grandbaby for the first time. However, joy (which is quite different from happiness) cannot be bought. It cannot come from being famous or wealthy or some relationship with another person. Joy is deep and it can only come from trusting implicitly in Jesus Christ, and walking in obedience to God's Word. That's why it can't be chased, bought, sold, transferred, or worked up. It is something that God Himself gives to us as we obey what He has told us daily. That is what I think.

Happiness is that you always have positive expectation about your future and you have the ability to obtain a better and better life in the future. So you allways have passion to do things and you always have good dreams. But the reality is always cruel and sometimes we feel confused about our future and fall into pessimism.

Real happiness comes from within. It is something we think and choose to feel. Even in the midst of adversities. If you choose to be really happy, then it will happen to you even you are not in good shape or dealing with a lot of problems. For me, real happiness is when I am with my husband and kids. Even sometimes I found it hard to manage all my tasks as a wife and mother.

dear aisuseijin, here is a passage about your post in the book published by HarperSanFrancisco in 1992 called 365 TAO DAILY MEDITATIONS by Deng Ming-Dao:: under the passage called KNOWLEDGE: Life is Beauty, Terror, Knowledge. A crucial part of following Tao is seeking knowledge. All the efforts of self-cultivation are meant to make us a fit vehicle for that search. Sometimes what we learn is not pleasant. With learning, we glimpse life as it really is, and that is difficult to bear. That is why spiritual progress is slow; not because no one will tell us the secrets, but because we ourselves must overcome sentiment and fear before we can grasp it....only knowledge removes this fear..." good luck on your journey of self-realization, aisuseijin...stanzi

wow.. why are you asking this things? aren't you happy right now? but by the way i agree with you that money can't make you happy eternally.. we can buy things that we crave for but after that the craving part that will make us happy will inly disappear.. being true and happy is by being yourself.. doing things that what you you really are.. my happiness is not a temporary happiness right now.. it is because i feel not pretending to anyone.. i show them the real me.. being a truly and a happy person comes and starts within yourself and specially with GOD. comes from your heart through your body and make your spirit free.. heheh
