Are computer viruses alive??

What is the difference between computer viruses and biological viruses like HIV or birdflu viruses?? Are computer viruses a living thing??

Bilogical viruses are the living particles! They di have a system which makes them to have food to live and to have food and to propagate their own species they live on a living prey or organis thing! On the contrary the Computer visrus is a programme created to act in a particular way! This is a soft ware! This is generally made by a programmer to either make the computer to malfunction or to crashdown completely! This depends upon the programmer and the degree of devilishness he is posses with! These virus can't act on Living things and they are restricted to Computer world only! These can't propagated by their own! They need to be given instructions to do so by the progammer! Thanx for the reply. Actually I have been wondering why they call it computer virus and whatever worms. That make it sound as if they are alive

computer viruses are programs that are used to get secret informations from another user like passwords and all. its not a living thing.
