What did you think of the food in your school canteen?

horrible , there was many incidents, one time - we found lizard egg in the food, and bird feathers. and one time we got a small frog in the college. that day was a commotion...anywa regards Harry

It's been almost 55 years since I had school lunches. Back then the food was prepared at the school. We didn't have much choice but to eat it there. I thought that they were pretty good. We seldem had things like french fries or pizza. We had what would be called a farmers mwal. potatoes a meat and vegetable and a bread. It really was pretty heavy for setting in a classroom but good tasting as far as I was concerned. Where My grandkids went to school the meals are prepared and transported to the individual schools. The kids say it is pretty crappy. Hambruger precooked as well as the french fries then reheated. Doesn't sound good to me.The school I went to had well over 5oo kids and were my grandkids went is about 1000 kids. the problem of serving more healthy lunches is that the kids are use to have fast food so a really healthy meal doesn't appeal to them when it avaiable.

The management at the canteen at my college ahs changed this year, the new ppl provide good food, the earlier one was horrible!!!! i had not even put a foot in the canteen for past 2 years... but the quality has been changed, Thank God!!!

That school food was simply horrible and it wasn't healthy either. It was very greasy and just overall very disgusting and poorly prepared. Every friday we had pizza and atleast one of my friends would find a hair in the cheese. Atleast we had the option of going to a local restaurant which wasn't much better but got us by.

Hi,there! I still remember the food that I had in my university last year.Gernerally speaking,the food were not too bad though they're not as good as the home-made food.There were many kinds that we could choose.I have never found a slug but come across the hair sometimes.I enjoyed the noodles and dumplings in the university cateen.The sanitary condition is not as good as what we hope,but it's not that hard for students to accept:) Thanks for the discussion and have a good day! Here in China, food in the school canteen is always nutritious. Fast food is the best. there are all kinds of food. I like it.

My school had pretty good food. There rolls were wonderful. Not sure how healthy it was for us but the taste was fine.

...The food at my children's school is not as bad as it was a few years ago. They do provide some healthier choices. Still they do have pizza everyday and french fries. ...Either way, I pack my children's lunch. My son is on a special diet and the school cannot provide these foods for him. When I was in school the food was pretty good. I think I like pizza day the best. My son's old school go the food delivered and a 6 years old asked me if he could bring his lunch to school because the school food was not fresh. His words. The school he goes to know has great food. I think he eats a better lunch than me most days. Today's menu was: Country Fried Steak Mashed Potatoes & Gravy Cherry Crisp Texas Toast He ate WAY better than me today.
