rodent control - ultrasonic?

Did you ever have a problem with rodents: mice or rats or do you know someone who has? What did you do to get rid of them? I am interested in all, especially chemical-free methods to control these pests who can be very troublesome and are a very big health hazard. Apart from the obvious things like sealing all ports of entry...what can be done when the building has already been "breached"?! There are so many of those ultrasonic pest control gadgets around and I wonder if they really do work. Most have them just have four or five reviews and I don't know if that's enough of a recommendation. Please let me know your experiences! Thanks!
