I was listening to Garth Brook's song "Unanswered Prayers" this morning and it got me thinking. There are lots of unanswered prayers that I have that I am thankful for. The biggest one for me was that when I was 18 years old I was praying and praying that the guy I lived with would want to marry me. I am so glad, looking back, that that prayer went unanswered!
What is your unasnwered prayer that you are thankful for? For those of you who don't know the song I'm talking about: basically the story is about a guy who had things he had prayed for in the past but looking back at it he is really glad those prayers went unanswered. He sees a woman that he had prayed to be with and then looks at his wife and is glad life turned out differently than he had hoped.

i thought so too that God didn't answer my prayers to test my patience and faith in Him. nevertheless, there are so many things i've been thankful for even if most of my prayers were not granted. i believed i'm still blessed. thanks...

That doesn't make you bad at all! There are a lot of things in our lives that we beg and plead for. Then it turns out that there was something different or more important that we had to do in our lives first. Does that make sense? I am not a religious person, and I am still exploring how I feel about that. One thing I do know for sure, though, is that everything happens for a reason. One thing I've noticed is that when a prayer goes unanswered we generally notice that over time we no longer want whatever it was we were asking for. I look at unanswered prayers now as a waiting period.

I'm not a religious person so I'll call mine wishes! lol. Mine would have to be asking to move back to New Zealand. I'm so glad it never happened or I would not be living with my partner or have my beautiful little girls. Then again, with the noise they are currently making, it sounds good! lol.

I find it interesting that for so many people their unanswered prayer (or wish) is what would have been a complete turning point in their lives. For many, if that one wish had been answered it would not have led to the spouse and kids they have now. It is great that we can look at our lives now, though, and be happy rather than saying that we wish we had gone down that other path.

Wow, there is nothing that jumps out at you as "life would really have been different if I hadn't done _______ that I had really wanted to do"? That is pretty cool, actually. You are a very accepting person, it would seem.
