What is the best part of being with your family during the holidays?

My family is very small and until this year it's been my son and his fiance spending Christmas eve with me. Now I'm looking forward to having my granddaughter and daughter here with me too and I'm so excited about the change.
Maybe it's the Italian blood in us but we're a very affectionate, emotional family and I just love all the hugging and nice things we say when we're together. My sons fiance is Irish and it took her awhile but now she's become part of it too and I can see that it makes her feel good to be part of such warmth.
What do you like best about having your family get together for holidays? Are you an affectionate bunch or more on the casual side?

my family's more of a casual, small one. I love the holidays with them, because the cold weather, holiday preparation and meals bring us closer together.

Christmas/Hanukkah 2004 is the holiday that will always be in my memory. It was the last with my mom and it was perfect. My mom, my sister,her boyfriend , and my nephew all were together and it was great.That year there wee plenty of gifts and great food, we had a pot roast.It wasn't too cold so it didn't snow, thank G-d.Everyone had a great time.We are a casual family when it comes to being affectionate.Funny, when it was over I remember thinking that it will be hard to top this next year.

Just being with my family during Christmas is good. My brother live out of state and it is good to see them. I like to see my niece and nephew play with my kids and also seeing there faces when they open there gifts. We are an affectionate during the holidays. I have noticed that my wife is a little on the casual side and at first was taken back wehn my mom and dad wanted to hug her but she is better now. I love the Holidays

well i have a small family and my hubby has a big one. what i like the best about getting together with both of them is with hubbys family, his little brother...he is hillarious and good for a laugh and its fun to see the younger kids!
with my family, i am an only child and my parents have a fire place so its nice to open christmas presents around the fire.

When i was a kid growing up my family was not affectinate, but we knew we were loved by how my parents showed concern..I was very close to both my parents.When i raised my children i tried to change all that so yes we hug now , and kiss., i like that..I am not sure what we will do christmas,it use to be at my house but the last few years we have at it at one of the childrens houses., but i always cook..Im always the one with the cornbread dressing...

I have been away from my family for 8 going on 9 years and when we do get to go back home, it's usually during the year and not at Christmas time. I do miss them during the holidays though and wished we were with them this year. However, we make do with just the three of us and making a phone call on the day will just have to do.

well i love to be with my family members in my vacations and all of us try to be available.we share all the happy and sad moments that we had faced in the previous times.we enjoy a lot.we go to movies and party a lot.picnic and other social gethering also done a lot.the whole day we are just like chatterbox.its really fun to be with the loved ones during holidays.

Hi,ctrymuziklvr! I enjoy staying with my family.I feel that's so warm to get together with my family members.Whenever it's the traditional holiday,we come together and have a big dinner together. The feeling is very close and we can just chat very freely.I'm somehow an affectionate bunch. I could stand living in a different place which is far from my family,but I'll miss them very much.Whenever I have the chance to be with them,I really cherish that and will be very happy:) Thanks for the discussion!
